What on Earth is God Doing?
By William M. Self, Sr.
Even God does not like pulling weeds
But don’t let that fool you
There will be a harvest day
“He has Established His Throne for Judgment”
“The
Lord reigns forever;
“He
has established His throne for judgment.”
Every day God sits on His throne.
The scriptures says…
“He
has established his throne for judgment.”
The word judgment
is scary.
I don’t like my faults exposed.
And I don’t like consequences for the things I do wrong.
If you and I can look beyond the fear of
judgment, we can see
something very beautiful.
As God reigns, His Spirit covers the earth.
Jesus said in John 16… He would
send the Holy Spirit the counselor.
The Spirit will convict the world
of sin, righteous, and judgment.
The Spirit then guides us into all truth.
We call it our conscience, that inter
feeling that warns us wrong.
The Spirit helps us recognize trouble before it happens.
This ability to sense right and
wrong can be adjusted by us.
“For
although they knew God, they neither
glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him,
but
their thinking became futile and their
foolish
hearts were darkened.” Romans 1:21 NIV
When we turn off or harden our hearts
to the Holy Spirit God gives up on us.
“Therefore
God gave them over in the sinful
desires of their hearts” Romans 1:24 NIV
As God reigns, He allows those He has given up on
and those who trust in Him to live on earth together.
Jesus compares these two types of people to wheat and weeds.
They grow up together.
Because God reigns forever, He waits and
in His time He will bring in His harvest.
Those who were governed by the Spirit
will rule and reign
with Him forever.
So next time you feel the nudge
of the Holy Spirit you will know…
God still reigns.
Those nudges are for your good and the good of others.
So don’t disregard it and become insensitive.
Scripture Reading
Psalm
146:3-10 NIV
10 The Lord reigns forever,
your God, O Zion, for all generations.
Psalm 9:7-10
NIV
7 The Lord
reigns forever;
he has
established his throne for judgment.
8 He will
judge the world in righteousness;
he will
govern the peoples with justice.
9 The Lord
is a refuge for the oppressed,
a stronghold
in times of trouble.
10 Those who
know your name will trust in you,
for you,
Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.
Matthew
13:26-30 NIV
When the
wheat sprouted and formed heads,
then the
weeds also appeared.
27 "The
owner's servants came to him and said,
'Sir, didn't
you sow good seed in your field?
Where then
did the weeds come from?'
28 "'An
enemy did this,' he replied.
"The
servants asked him,
'Do you want
us to go and pull them up?'
29
"'No,' he answered,
'because
while you are pulling the weeds,
you may root
up the wheat with them.
30 Let both
grow together until the harvest.
At that time
I will tell the harvesters:
First
collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned;
then gather
the wheat and bring it into my barn.'"
