The Benefits of Love

The Secret Place

By William M. Self, Sr.

Those who love God

He gives a long and satisfying life

And you know how hard it is to satisfy some of us

The Benefits of Love

Love is a choice and at times a hard choice.

At other times, it’s almost thoughtless and very easy.

The choices of love are very diverse.

There are some foods I can’t understand
how some people can love them.

When it comes to sports there are hundreds
 of names representing teams.

People choose to love one team over the other.

There are an endless number of names of manufactures
 and people choose to love those companies.

Our choices to love, connects us.

The greater our love the greater the connection.

We spend our time and money on those things we love.

It is true the greatest of all things is love…

 Even greater than our faith and hope.
1 Corinthians 13:13

You and I don’t have anything
greater to give than love.

God is bold enough to command
from you and I love.

He wants the greatest thing you can give.

He commands us to love Him
as the first of all commandments.

In fact, none of the other commandments
 matter if you don’t love God.

So what are the benefits to love?

What are the benefits of loving God?

God says…

Loving and trusting Him motivates Him.

Psalms 91:14

"Because he loves me," says the Lord,
I will rescue him.

I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
 With long life will I satisfy him
and show him my salvation."

When you make the Lord your dwelling
 place because you love Him...

He will stop at nothing to give
you a long and satisfied life.

Scripture Reading

Psalm 91:9-16 NIV
9 If you make the Most High your dwelling —
even the Lord, who is my refuge —
10 then no harm will befall you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14 "Because he loves me," says the Lord, "I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life will I satisfy him
and show him my salvation."
