The Lord Reigns Forever

What on Earth is God Doing?

By William M. Self, Sr.

When you cast your vote you get short term government

When you cast your prayers you get the eternal Kingdom of God

 The Lord Reigns Forever

“The Lord reigns forever,
your God, O Zion, for all generations.”

All that God is doing comes from His throne…

With Jesus sitting at His right hand.

God has given mankind a lot of
room to make choices in life.

When those choices oppress others and they cry out to Him…

He brings healing to the land.

We so often look to leaders to bring the healing our land needs.

Sometimes they are good leaders and
sometimes we just want change.

One thing for sure, trusting in a person’s ability to heal
the world’s problem on any level is beyond their ability.

Even the greatest leaders don’t live forever
 and neither does their influence.

It seems leaders are forever making
new laws to heal the problems…

And that is good if you are a lawyer.

For the rest of us, the protection of our freedom seems to bring
on more restrictions, not to say the cost of those laws to enforce.

The Lord has been reigning forever and
He is not writing any new laws.

His leadership rests on two simple commands…

“Love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength
And love your neighbor as yourself”

That’s what comes from His throne.

God sent His Son with the message of this Good News.

Throughout time, God has allowed
man to carry out their plans…

Even crucifying the Son of God.

When people become oppressed…

When they lose confidence in
man’s ability to heal the land…

When they turn to the Lord who
reigns forever from Heaven…

And turn from their wicked ways… God hears!

When God hears and people are willing
to get back to the simple command
to love God and love your neighbor

God removes the oppressor and heals the land.

Scripture Reading

Psalm 146:3-10 NIV

3 Do not put your trust in princes,
in mortal men, who cannot save.
4 When their spirit departs, they return to the ground;
on that very day their plans come to nothing.

5 Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the Lord his God,
6 the Maker of heaven and earth,
the sea, and everything in them —
the Lord, who remains faithful forever.
7 He upholds the cause of the oppressed
and gives food to the hungry.
The Lord sets prisoners free,
8 the Lord gives sight to the blind,
the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down,
the Lord loves the righteous.
9 The Lord watches over the alien
and sustains the fatherless and the widow,
but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.

10 The Lord reigns forever,
your God, O Zion, for all generations.
