Method

There are many methods to devotional time.

Your purpose will guide your method.

Remember devotional time is
foundational to devotional life.

Devotion comes from love and loyalty.

Your devotional time needs
to focus on Jesus’ purpose…

I have come that they may have life,
and have it to the full.
John 10:10

Your devotional time needs to
focus on life and the positive
hope that comes from our Lord.

The Word of God is living.
 Hebrews 4:12

Our method must include…

Living for the Word
Living in the Word
Living by the Word

Living for the Word recognizes
God’s Word is the authority on life…

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for
teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
so that the man of God may be thoroughly
equipped for every good work.
 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Scripture supplies society with staggering
truth that has not been disproven.

The authority of Scripture challenges
us from every page, more than that
of any man, woman or child can.

When you live for the Word…

You live for what is right
“righteousness”.

 And in everything you do,
you “do good works”.

Living in the Word has to do with time.

Although I cannot tell you how much
time you should be in the Word…

The Word demands our attention.

Being in the Word is more than a duty…

It is a uniting in mind, spirit and body.

Psalms 1 tells us of the blessing and delight
of being and living in God’s Word.

When living in the Word you will
be transformed from this world.

Living in the world teaches us to
love and hate through our 5 senses.

In this way, the world changes
us and our inner spirit.

Where living in the Word teaches us to
love and hate from a transformed spirit.

In this way we transform the
world with the fruit of the Spirit.
 Galatians 5:22-26

Living by the Word lights our path.
Psalms 119:105

The Word makes your steps firm and stable…

The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD:
and he delighteth in his way.
Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down:
for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.
Psalms 37:23-24 KJV

There are many methods
to studying God’s Word .

Whatever method you use,
it must bring life…

Living for the Word
Living in the Word
Living by the Word

 When we understand Jesus’ purpose…

I have come that they may have life,
and have it to the full.
John 10:10

We will love His Word
and be loyal to it…

Because from it come
the well springs of life.
 Proverbs 16:22

Hebrews 4:12-13 NIV
2 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
