Devotional Life Practical Application

Devotional Life

Practical Application

What is the farthest you can see?

You have to look up to answer that question

Jesus told us to look as far as we can when we pray

Pray to your Father in Heaven

How far is that?

Pray for the Father’s Kingdom in heaven to come in the earth

Our devotional time is not a time of starring off into space

Everything we see in God’s Word, the eternal truths and heaven’s glory

Both time and space are to connect in earth as it is in heaven

Whether we are reading about the history of the world through the lens of the Bible

Or, we are looking into prophetic things to come

All God has said is to bring practical application to our lives

How far can you see and apply it to your life?

Practical Application

What is the farthest you can see?

You have to look up

to answer that question.

During the day we see as far as

the sun or the clouds everything

beyond that is hidden in blue.

At night we can see planets and stars.

You have heard the saying…

 “reach for the stars”.

The heavens seem unreachable.

It is very doubtful you or I

will get to take a rocket ship to

any one of those heavenly places.

To spend your life reaching for

a star would be a waste of time.

Life is frustrating reaching

for what you cannot have.

Our discoveries in life need some practical

application or else we are just dreamers.

Jesus told us to look as

far as we can when we pray.

Pray to your Father in Heaven.

How far is that?

Pray for the Father’s Kingdom

in heaven to come in the earth…

Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name,

your kingdom come,

your will be done

on earth as it is in heaven.

Matthew 6:9-10

There are many books

written about outer space.

These books only bring to the

classroom facts, figures and speculation.

Seeing beyond our hemisphere makes

it hard to find any practical application.

Every one of Jesus’ teachings

was about the Kingdom of Heaven.

Jesus taught about heaven as a place

where our Heavenly Father dwells…

And that someday we will be able to go there

where He has made a special place for us.

That is good news and the scriptures were written

so that you might know you have eternal life.

 1 John 5:13

But the scriptures were also

written for practical application.

James tells us the words of God

are like looking into a mirror.

Every time we read or hear

God’s Word, we should see our self.

This is an amazing mirror because it shows

us what we are and what we can be.

 James 1:23-25

Our devotional time is not a

time of starring off into space.

Everything we see in God’s Word,

the eternal truths and heaven’s glory.

Both time and space are to

connect in earth as it is in heaven.

Whether we are reading about the history

of the world through the lens of the Bible…

Or, we are looking into

prophetic things to come…

All God has said is to bring

practical application to our lives.

Our goal in our devotional time is to

pray and search the scriptures for

the connection of heaven to our lives.

To fill our minds with knowledge make

us heavenly minded and no earthly good.

But to understand how to live on earth as

if we were in heaven that is life transforming.

There will be times when you

will have to put on a shelf the things

you received in your devotional time…

For the revelation awaits an appointed time;

it speaks of the end

and will not prove false.

Though it linger, wait for it;

it will certainly come and will not delay.

Habakkuk 2:3

Other times you will see your

devotional time bring understanding

to your yesterday and today.

Why?...

Because God has a plan for us,

a wonderful purpose.

Because Jesus is the same yesterday,

today, and tomorrow…

There is no time in your life He

is not working out the practical

application of His Word in you and I.

Philippians 1:4-6…

…because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

How far can you see

and apply it to your life?
