Devotional Life Devotional Time is a Seed for a Devotional Life

Devotional Life
Devotional Time is a Seed for a Devotional Life

Your devotional time has great potential for your future
It is hard to get into God’s Word when you are going through a death of a vision
It is hard to get into God’s Word when you have lots of activity in your life
There is always excuses for putting off till tomorrow
Devotional time takes commitment
But don’t forget “devotion” comes through love and loyalty
Your commitment to a daily devotional time
Will be easier as you remember your choice to love God
Love seeds because they grow and reproduce
That is what devotional time does for a devotional life

Devotional Time is a Seed for a Devotional Life

In 2008, when I started writing
devotionals, I was in a valley of death.

I have always been a very active person.

I am passionate about life.

My dreams and vision of
ministry were dead in 2008.

They call it the death of a vision.

Leaving the people I loved, the
work of the ministry, was painful.

Not only did I feel like I
could not go on at the church…

I lost the inner drive to
accept other offers to minister.

At that same time, the economy
tanked and I lost my savings.

Jesus seems to like seed’s principles.

One day when He was
talking about His own life, He said…

I tell you the truth, unless a kernel
of wheat falls to the ground and dies,
it remains only a single seed.
But if it dies, it produces many seeds.
The man who loves his life will lose it,
while the man who hates his life in
this world will keep it for eternal life.
John 12:24-25

In 2008, I felt empty and without hope.

I thought death would be better than life.

Taking time to have a devotional
time was like planting a seed.

The ground around me seemed
dead and so did the seed…

 But I planted anyways.

Getting into God’s Word was dry.

But I knew sowing seed brings future hope.

I am grateful that at that season in my life
I had planted many seeds in the past.

So Scriptures would come
back to my remembrance.

Today I live a very active life.

The days, weeks and months go by so fast.

Life is not standing still.

The pressure to have a
devotional time is different.

Where in 2008, it seemed like
all I had was time…

Now I can’t find enough time.

No matter what you are experiencing
in life, you need to plant seeds.

To have a devotional life you
have to have daily devotional time.

Planting seeds of God’s Word daily.

You will have days when it seems
like you got nothing from that time.

It will feel dry and dead.

But the seed you sow that day
may be the seed that grows and
produces fruit for your needs tomorrow.

When a crises comes…

You do not want to be fumbling
through your Bible for answers.

God’s Word is like a precious seed.

If planted…

It will grow and produce a harvest.

God’s Word does not give empty returns.

We will talk about working with
the seed later to increase our harvest.

For now we need to see your devotional
time has great potential for your future.

It was hard to get into God’s Word
when going through a death of a vision.

It is hard to get into God’s Word
when I have so much activity in my life.

There is always excuse for
putting off till tomorrow.

Devotional time takes commitment.

But don’t forget “devotion”
come through love and loyalty.

Your commitment to a daily devotional
time will be easier as you remember
your choice to love God.

Love seeds because they grow and reproduce.

That is what devotional time
does for a devotional life.

Scripture Reading

John 12:23-28 NIV

23 Jesus replied, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. 24 I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. 25 The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26 Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.

27 "Now my heart is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save me from this hour'? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. 28 Father, glorify your name!"
