Devotional Life The Anointing

Devotional Life

The Anointing

1 John 2:26-27

John says because we have the anointing of the Holy Spirit

We do not need others to teach us

John is not saying we are on our own

What He is saying is the Holy Spirit will help you realize

What is real and what is counterfeit

The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God is in you

Your anointing comes from the Spirit of God

The same anointing Apostle Paul, John or any other teacher or writer of God

You not only have the Holy Spirit to reveal real and counterfeit

But from within you, the Spirit of God will teach you

You will get more out of His teaching if you write it down

For me I found that as I write I think more

My mind opens beyond my current knowledge

I begin to see things, my eyes open to new truth

In your devotional time remember you have an “Anointing”

Take time to put into writing the inspiring word from the Holy Spirit

He will guide you into all truth, remain in Him

The Anointing

Journaling or writing out your

 devotional is very rewarding.

Every morning I read a devotional

I wrote weeks to months ago,

before I start my devotional for that day.

Almost every day as I read the devotional,

I become amazed at what I wrote.

So many times I question did I write that?

Reading your journal or devotionals

from the past, reveals how much

God was speaking to you.

It becomes very clear your devotional

time was with God, because the words

you wrote are not just your words…

But inspiration from the Holy Spirit.

It is important to realize your time

with God is a time of inspiration.

You do not start with all the answers.

You start with a big idea, the title,

or you start with a detail, the sub title,

or you start with a scripture.

You will start with one of the three,

but as you think, research and write

the other two will come into focus.

In the end the three points…

 Title, Sub Title and Scripture

Will become your fence posts

and define your boundaries.

You will want your journal

or devotional to be short.

Learn to draw conclusions.

This can be very hard for most of us.

Your sub title will help you keep

it short, as you do not want to write

about anything else but that point.

You will have other discoveries.

Take those discoveries and write them down

on another sheet of paper for a later study.

Keep it short so you will read it in the future.

Keep it short so you learn how to use the

most important words to make a point.

If you make it short, you can later

put your writing together with other

sub titles that relate with your title

and that is how you develop a book.

I like to write sentences not paragraphs

that is why I center every sentence on a page.

This helps keep me from becoming wordy.

Devotional time is “TIME WITH GOD”.

I have found a lot of

encouragement in 1 John 2:26-27.

John is talking to people like you and I…

Those of us who want to know more about God.

 John knows there are good

 teachers and false teachers.

False teacher can be very convincing

if we are just a listener.

John says we have an “Anointing”…

The anointing is from God and lives in us.

This is the Holy Spirit.

 John says because we have

the anointing of the Holy Spirit…

We do not need others to teach us.

John is not saying we are on our own.

What He is saying is the Holy Spirit will help

you realize what is real and what is counterfeit.

The Holy Spirit,

the Spirit of God is in you.

Your anointing comes from the Spirit of God

the same anointing the Apostle Paul,

John or any other teacher or writer of God.

You not only have the Holy Spirit

 to reveal real and counterfeit…

But from within you, the

Spirit of God will teach you.

You will get more out of His

teaching if you write it down.

For me I found that as

I write I think more.

My mind opens beyond

my current knowledge.

I begin to see things,

my eyes open to new truth.

In your devotional time remember

you have an “Anointing”.

Take time to put into writing the

inspiring word from the Holy Spirit.

He will Guide you into

all truth, remain in Him.

Scripture Reading

1 John 2:26-27 NIV

26 I am writing these things to you about those who are trying to lead you astray. 27 As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit — just as it has taught you, remain in him.
