Power
Power to Glory
Have you even had a
picture taken in a famous place or with a famous person?
Ever posed with a trophy?
All of us have had
some accomplishment that we were proud of
We were in our glory
If you or I spoke of
nothing except what we “have said and
done—
by the power of signs and miracles, through the power of the
Spirit.”
How much would we
have to speak about?
God help us to walk
in the Spirit in such a way that You can do powerful things.

Power to Glory
Have you even had a picture taken in
a famous place or with a famous person?
Ever posed with a
trophy?
All of us have had some accomplishment
that we were proud of.
We were in our glory.
We boasted of that day, that event, that accomplishment.
It feels good to be in that moment of time.
Glory and boasting can make us feel good.
It can make you feel strong.
We know that what we are
proud of can become an offense.
In Romans 15…
This point of strength and weakness is addressed.
15:1 We who are strong
ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves.
2 Each
of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. 3
For even
Christ did not please himself but, as it is written:
"The insults of
those who insult you have fallen on me."
7 Accept one another,
then, just as Christ accepted you,
in order to bring praise to God.
Romans
15:1-4, 7
It seems some believers
were glorying over others.
We can see ourselves as being strong Christians and
not accepting those we think are weak Christians.
Some glory over sinners and forget we are
all saved by grace lest anyone should boast.
Verses 17 through 19
of Romans 15…
Give us something to
consider.
Therefore I glory in Christ Jesus in my
service to God.
That sounds really good.
Glorying in our service to God.
But it goes one step farther.
I will not venture to
speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the
Gentiles to obey God by what I have said and done— 19 by the power of signs and
miracles, through the power of the Spirit.
Note…
“What I have said and done— by the power of signs and miracles,
through the power of the Spirit.”
I find myself asking the question…
How much of what I have said and done was
“by the power of signs and miracles,
through the power of the Spirit.”
Paul says…
I will not venture to
speak of anything except
If you or I spoke of nothing except what we…
“have said and done—
by the power of signs
and miracles,
through the power of
the Spirit.”
How much would we have to speak about?
God help us to walk in the Spirit in such a
way that we can do powerful things.
