Power
Giving God Power
From the beginning of
creation God breathed into man
Today God has
supplied the air you breathe and the ability to breathe it
The strength you have
is a gift from God
Shouldn’t we give
back to Him the strength and power we have
Every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the
sea,
and all that is in them, singing:
"To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be praise and honor and glory and power,
for ever and ever!"
How have you used
your power and strength today?
Power
Giving God Power
Revelation 4 and 5 is a triumphant heavenly song.
It is a song of worship.
The song is to acknowledge the creative power of
the Lord God and the saving sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
Before the throne of Him who lives
forever and ever are 4 living creatures.
Whenever the living
creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him
24 Elders fall down
before him who sits on the throne, and worship him who lives for ever and ever.
They lay their crowns before the throne and say:
"You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and
honor and power,
for you created all
things,
and by your will they
were created
and have their
being."
Then the living creatures take
up harps and sing a new song.
"You are worthy
to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
because you were
slain,
and with your blood
you purchased men for God
from every tribe and
language and people and nation.
10 You have made them
to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God,
and they will reign on
the earth."
At this point we see thousands of angels join in and sing.
"Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,
to receive power and
wealth and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory
and praise!"
The next verse we find…
every creature in
heaven and on earth
and under the earth
and on the sea,
and all that is in
them, singing:
"To him who sits
on the throne and to the Lamb
be praise and honor
and glory and power,
for ever and ever!"
Three times the words of worship
speak about giving God.
Glory and Honor and Power
What does it mean to give God power?
Isn’t God already all-powerful?
God does not lack anything.
So what does it mean to give God power?
To understand we need to realize
what is going on in Revelation 4 and 5.
Praise and worship are
being brought to the throne.
The Glory and Honor and Power are
things given in the worship and praise.
They are gifts from the worshipers…
Because we were created by God.
Because of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice to save us.
We should give Him all the Glory.
We should give Him all the Honor.
We should give Him all our Power.
This is a fulfillment of the
first and greatest command.
Love the Lord thy God
with all your
heart, soul and with all your strength.
Note that the worship was continual.
We should never stop giving back
to God what He has given to us.
What gifts are continually being given to God?
Glory, Honor and Power
God has given you might and
wisdom so you can give it back to Him.
This is the reason you and I exist.
What have you given your Creator today?
What have you given the one who was sacrificed for you?
