Power Hold Together

Power

Hold Together

There is only one thing that has the strength
The power to hold everything in heaven and on earth together
The adhesive bond is Jesus Christ
The Creator of Heaven and Earth
The Reconciler through the cross
If it is not held together by God it is a temporary fix at best
“If God made it - He can fix it”
Don’t contaminate His adhesive power

Hold Together

We use a lot of things to hold things together.

I can’t tell you how many times something broke and
I could not find glue or tape, to hold it together.

Last night I got a call that a bathroom faucet broke.

It was a high end single handle faucet
and one part was broke.

I could not repair it and I could
not replace just the broken part.

So the whole faucet had to be replaced.

Duct tape and super glues
cannot hold everything together.

I find it challenging to find something strong
enough to hold the broken things in life together.

So when I read Colossians 1:17 I am amazed…

He is before all things, and
in Him all things hold together.

In Him all things hold together.

The scriptures before this tell us
all the things Christ holds together.

The description of how
strong His adhesive bond is.

So let’s read the label…

He is the image of the invisible God,
the firstborn over all creation.
For by him all things were created

He is invisible unlike duct tape,
what He holds together is not seen.

The first born
all other claims to fix it, are copies…
 Jesus is the original.

For by Him all things were created

If God made it, He can fix it.

The scope of what He made and holds together is…

Things in heaven and on earth

 That is a big area.

Visible and Invisible

How many times unforeseen things
have broken your hard work?

Whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities

Government and authority He holds together.

All things were created by Him and for Him

This is an important clue to the glue.

It is obvious that there are a lot
of broken things in creation.

The clue to the glue is everything holds
together the way the Creator created it.

When we try to use something aside
God’s intention, it will break.

And if we use any other adhesive than
God to hold it together, it will not hold.

Think of the worst day of your life…

The day something broke and you could not fix it.

Think of the worst day on earth…

 Maybe a nuclear explosion.

The next day the sun will still come up.

God, the Creator, Jesus, the first born has held
everything together despite all the things
we have broken from the beginning of creation.

It is true things God created get broke.

The adhesive industry is ever
growing to fix our broken items.

Mental and physical health care is increasing every
day to fix the brokenness of our bodies and lives.

Governments are failing the people they are to serve.

We may at times make things we try to fix worse.

God does not stop us from breaking things.

He does not hold things together that He has not made.

Jesus does not mix with our formulas.

Jesus is strong enough alone to hold all things together.

Look at the big picture…

God has held the heavens and the earth together.

No matter what you did, or anyone else
in the world did, His order is not effected.

God brings a new day every day.

God holds together what He has created.

Jesus Christ through the cross reconciles
all things in heaven and on earth to Him.

The key is “through Him”.

In Him is the wisdom and knowledge
to hold all things together…

In the natural and the spiritual.

You only need to reach for
one thing to hold life together.

The One who created all things.

Stick with the plan.

Stick with God.

Scripture Reading

Colossians 1:15-20 NIV

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
