Power
Power Ranking
If you
have ever played a game or have a favorite sports team
You know about power
ranking
Cards, figures or teams are rated from weakest to strongest
In life you may hold the title of garbage collector
But if you are playing euchre and have the right bower you
have the power
Jesus Christ is the highest ranking authority
He will judge every ranking authority
But more important than that
Jesus Christ wants to fill you up in every way
So His Body, His Church will gain in rank
What crowns of authority will you lay at His feet?
Power Ranking
If you have ever played a game
or have a favorite sports team
you know about power ranking.
Cards, figures or teams are
rated from weakest to strongest.
In life you may hold the title of garbage collector,
but if you are
playing euchre and have
the right bower you have the power.
Rank determines power.
When we think of rank we
think of winning and losing.
In real life your
rank will
open and close doors for you.
If you were born as a child of a
king and queen you had rank from birth.
If you worked hard you
might have been elected to rank.
The rank you hold can be
a good thing or a bad thing.
In the military the
dedicated solider gains rank.
The solider becomes more powerful given
authority to lead others to be successful.
With increasing rank comes
privilege and
responsibility.
This is ordained by God.
Romans 13:1
It is also true that your rank can go to
your head and you can become a dictator.
The world is in need of more leaders
who not only have positional power but
personal power, personal godly character.
Ephesians 1 says Jesus Christ
is raised to the highest rank.
Positionally He is seated at the
right hand of God in Heaven.
His rank is…
“far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title
that can be given, not
only in the present age but also in the one to come.”
God will always have those
who will rank under Him.
He establishes our rank by our faithfulness.
“He who is faithful over a little I will
give him much”
or put him in charge of cities.
Luke 16, 19 and Matthew 25
We, many times, look at the rulers
in Ephesians 1 as evil.
Someday God will make
them bow to their knees.
But what if God is talking about you?
What if God wants you to
increase in the power ranks?
Ephesians 1 is a rebuke to unrighteous
leaders,
but
it is also a rebuke to us who do not rise
up to the righteous rank we can be under
Him.
The scriptures say every knee will bow and
every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is
Lord.
That scripture says “every knee”…
That is your knees and mine.
Look at the final word of Ephesians 1…
And
God placed all things under his feet and appointed him
to be
head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body,
the fullness of him who fills everything in
every way.
Jesus Christ is the highest ranking
authority.
He will judge every ranking authority.
But more important than that…
Jesus Christ wants to fill you up in every
way…
So His Body, His Church will gain in rank.
What crowns of authority will you lay at His
feet?
Scripture Reading
Ephesians 1:18-23 NIV
18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart
may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which incomparably he
has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and
his great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his
mighty strength, 20 which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead
and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule
and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only
in the present age but also in the one to come. 22 And God placed all things under his feet
and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his
body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.
