Power Power of Giving

Power of Giving

It is true God’s grace can increase and decrease
Being generous causes God’s grace to abound
If we make it our goal to be generous on every occasion
God’s grace will abound and you will be made rich in every way
And in the end your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God

Power of Giving

God is able to make all grace abound to you,
so that in all things at all times,
having all that you need,
you will abound in every good work
 2 Corinthians 9:8

Is it true God is able to make His grace abound?

Can God’s grace increase and decrease?

Is it true there are times God looks
on us more favorably than others?

According to 2 Corinthians 9 it is true…

God’s grace is affected by what we do.

I do not think there is any way we can under-
stand the power and magnitude of God’s grace.

Ephesians 2 tells us…

8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith —
and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—
9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
10 For we are God's workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Ephesians 2:8-10

For it is by grace you have been saved

How do we receive it? …

Through faith

Although we are not saved by works, the
passage in Ephesians 2 tells us we were…

…created in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Ephesians 2:8-10

Faith always requires action.

Faith without works is dead.
James 2:14-26

So how does God make all grace abound to you?

The answer is found in our faith.

Faith is more than believing Jesus rose
from the dead so we can have eternal life.

Our faith in God believes God
created you for His purpose.

When we fulfill that purpose His grace abounds...

The favor of God is released.

Giving releases God’s grace and favor.

God loves a cheerful giver
2 Corinthians 9:7

We were created in Christ to do good works
and one of those works is to be His givers.

It doesn’t matter whether you find it easy to give
or not, God made us to feel good when we give.

I believe the good feeling you get from giving
indicates one of the purposes God created us for.

We should note that there is a
difference between grace and mercy.

Mercy is given when we have done something wrong…

When our actions displease God.

Grace comes when are actions are pleasing to God.

So the more we please God by faith
the more grace is released.

Giving is one of those areas where we
can see God’s grace abound in our lives.

When His grace abounds His favor
shines upon us and His provisions flow.

Look at Malachi 3:10-11…

10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse,
that there may be food in my house.
Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty,
“and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and
pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.

What an example of God’s
grace to provide when we give.

Giving can be very hard to discern.

We all have been scammed.

We all have seen people in
need that won’t help themselves.

I have always worked hard for my
money and have never lived debt free.

So giving what I have worked hard for to someone
who won’t work does not make “Cents” (Play on words).

God created us to be generous as well as discerning.

When Peter saw the beggar, he did not give
him what he wanted but what he needed.

He healed him so he could
provide for himself and others.
Acts. 3:6

But when it comes to the church in need,
giving causes God’s grace to abound.

Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food
will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge
the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be made rich in every
way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through
us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
2 Corinthians 9:10-11

If we make it our goal to be
generous on every occasion…

God’s grace will abound and
you will be made rich in every way.

And in the end your generosity
will result in thanksgiving to God.

Scripture Reading

2 Corinthians 9:6-11 NIV

6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 9 As it is written:

"He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor;
his righteousness endures forever."

10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
