The Accuser
The Pain is Real
Pain is real and is inescapable.
Don’t ignore the pain as if it will just go away.
Don’t cover up the pain with nice sounding words.
Learn how to deal with the source of your
pain through the truth of God’s Word.
For it is the truth that will set you free.
Never give up hope, your time of suffering
in comparison to eternity, is a short time.
30 years ago there was a teaching
going around based on 1 Peter 5:8.
“Your enemy the devil
prowls around like a
roaring lion looking
for someone to devour.”
The teaching said…
Don’t be afraid of the devil’s roar
because Jesus took away his teeth.
Jesus has overcome death and the devil
but the devil is still devouring lives.
The devil is still robbing, killing and
destroying men, women and children.
When the devil accuses, the pain is real.
The accusations bring pain
to the body, soul and spirit.
Where Christ came to sanctify, set you apart, spirit,
soul and body so that we might become blameless.
The accusations Satan brought against
Job caused Job to have real pain.
The believers Peter wrote to had real pain
as Rome accused them of burning Rome.
Many were covered in tar and set on fire as
human touches, those who escaped left everything.
The false accusations brought against Jesus
brought real pain as He died on the cross.
So what do we do when we are put on trial?
What do we do when true or false
accusations are made against us?
First, don’t think it is strange. 1 Peter 4:12
Second, realize sanctification comes by
truth and God’s Word is truth. John 17:17
Third, humble yourself under God’s
hand and in time He will lift you up.
Take your anxiety to God, don’t forget
He loves and promises to care for you.
Be self-controlled
Don’t let anger turn
into hate
and evil thoughts and actions
Be alert
Keep an eye out for the
Devil’s temptations and traps
Resist the devil, don’t give in
Stand firm in your faith, confess with
your mouth and actions God’s Word
Remember you have other brothers and sisters
in the faith who are going through trials
because they are on trial for their faith.
Many of them are suffering in greater ways than
you and many of them will only find deliverance
through death and the promise of eternal life.
Know that there will come a
day of judgment for your accuser.
“When he opened the
fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because
of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. 10 They called out in
a loud voice, "How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge
the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?" 11 Then each of them
was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the
number of their fellow servants and brothers who were to be killed as they had
been was completed.” Revelation
6:9-11 NIV

“Take up your cross
daily”
Face your pain in short time frames,
one day at a time, one step at a time.
Never give up hope, your time of suffering
in comparison to eternity is a short time.
“The God of all grace,
who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little
while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To him
be the power for ever and ever. Amen.”
Scripture Reading
NIV
1 Peter 5:6-11
6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand,
that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he
cares for you.
8 Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls
around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him,
standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the
world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal
glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore
you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 11 To him be the power for ever
and ever. Amen.
1 Peter 4:12-17
12 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial
you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But
rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be
overjoyed when his glory is revealed. 14 If you are insulted because of the
name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on
you. 15 If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other
kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. 16 However, if you suffer as a
Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.
