Making the old look good at Christmas The Focal Point of Christmas

Making the old look good at Christmas
The Focal Point of Christmas

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given…”
The old message of God’s gift to man is the most beautiful part of Christmas
Watch what you make the focal point
What will people see as they look at your preparations?
What will you be thinking about most?
Yes, Christmas is a wonderful time of the year
With all the new things will the old still stand out as the most beautiful?
Let’s make the true story of Christmas look good
Even though it is the oldest story of Christmas

There is always something new for Christmas…

New gifts, new decorations, new foods, new programs.

Every year Sandy buys new ornaments to add to the tree.

This year one of those ornaments was to
remember my Dad who passed away earlier this year.

Those ornaments go back each year to our first Christmas together.

The tree now tells the story of our lives and the family we have.

There are a lot of new songs that come out for
Christmas but I think the ones with the greatest
popularity are the ones recorded 40 to 50 years ago.

Christmas looks good even if you don’t get a white one.

We try to make everything look good
at Christmas with the look of Christmas.

We decorate our homes inside and out.

The table settings are the best of the year.

Dressing up with new clothes and jewelry.

I say one of the new trends for Christmas,
2016, was Henna art or tattooing…

A temporary dye to give an elegant lace look.

As we at Christmas try to make everything look
good there are some things we should remember.

Don’t let all the new eclipse the old

The meaning of Christmas…

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given…”

The old message of God’s gift to man
is the most beautiful part of Christmas.

Watch what you make the focal point.

What will people see as they look at your preparations?

What will you be thinking about most?

Yes, Christmas is a wonderful time of the
year and with all the new things will the
old still stand out as the most beautiful.

Let’s make the true story of Christmas look good
even though it is the oldest story of Christmas.

As I look at the old door in the church Christmas decorations,
I see the door is still the main focal point.

Scripture Reading

 Isaiah 9:6-7 NIV

6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David's throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord Almighty
will accomplish this.
