Making the old look good at Christmas
The Door is Alive
This door may be old
as far as our view of time
But the Door, Jesus
Christ, is still
“ a new and living way opened for
us” Hebrews 10:20
It was through the
birth of Jesus Christ
We were introduced to
the entrance of God
We now see the only
door to the Father came on Christmas Day
Christ made it very clear He is the Door.
“So Jesus said again, I assure you, most
solemnly
I tell you, that I
Myself am the Door for the sheep.”
John 10:7 AMP
Doors have a purpose.
I don’t know how it is in your house but in mine I think
my kids and grandkids forget the purpose of a door.
In the summer time, I want to keep
the house cool and free of bugs.
In the winter time,
I want my house warm.
It seems there is always someone who leaves the
door open and my comfort level is compromised.
When my comfort level is compromised, I
realize how much I love my door no matter
how angry I get about it being left open.
Most of us have two locks on our
doors that lead in and out of our house.
Locks that protect our life and the life
of our loved ones and our possessions.
Every door provides an entry and exit to something.
In John 14: 6 Jesus said…
"I am the way, and the truth, and the life;
no one comes to
the Father but through Me”
Jesus is the Door “the way” but to pass
through there are two locks “truth” and “life”.
Jesus keeps lies and death out of the presence of the Father.
It is always nice to see a welcome mat at a door.
Romans 5:1-2…
“…our Lord Jesus
Christ, through whom we have gained
access by faith into
this grace in which we now stand.”
We gain access by faith, this faith
opens the door to favor, grace.
Without faith it is impossible to please
God, that is how we find His favor or grace.
We need to remember the Door is
alive not an old dead piece of wood.
Ephesians 2:18…
“For through him we
both have access to the Father by one Spirit.”
The veil in the tabernacle and the regulations
show us we cannot just walk in on God.
Hebrews 9:8-9 MSG…
“This was the Holy
Spirit's way of showing with a visible parable
that as long as the large tent stands, people
can't just walk in on God.”
It is the Blood of Jesus that gives us confidence to enter.
Hebrews 10:19-23…
“Therefore, brothers,
since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us
through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over
the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full
assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty
conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.”
This door may be old as far as our view of time.
But the Door, Jesus Christ, is still
“ a new and living way opened for us”
Hebrews 10:20
It was through the birth of Jesus Christ we
were introduced to the entrance of God.
We now see the only door to the Father came on Christmas Day.
Scripture Reading
Hebrews 10:19-25 NIV
19 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter
the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened
for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21 and since we have a great
priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart
in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a
guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold
unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And
let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. 25
Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let
us encourage one another — and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
