Knowledge The Treasure of Knowledge

Knowledge
The Treasure of Knowledge

Where do you find it?

And how do you protect it from the pirates?

Hidden Treasure

To be a successful treasure hunter
you must know where to look.

Many treasure hunters have gone bankrupted
because they were looking in the wrong places.

Knowledge is described in the Bible as
being more valuable than silver and gold.

Knowledge gives us the ability
to gain wealth in every way.

But a lack of knowledge has left many empty handed.

My son and I like to buy storage units to find the treasures.

One unit had a lot of old documents, because I
did not know anything about them I burned them.

I later found out one of those
documents was worth at least $200.

I could have used the excuse “I did not know”
but it still was a loss of at least $200.

Every day of our lives is a day filled with treasures.

Each day is filled with opportunity.

Every day should be a day of treasure hunting.

We should not get discouraged when
it seems the treasures are hidden.

We should not get discouraged when it takes
time to process the treasures from everything else.

If we realize the treasures of wisdom
and knowledge are found in Christ.

We should start each day in His Word.

Proverbs 2 says…

“My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,”

The reasons we need to store up God’s Word is,
when it is needed you may not have time to look it up.

Not only are there daily opportunities but there
is an enemy who wants to rob, kill, and destroy.

When the enemy or opportunity comes you
don’t want to be “going” to your knees in prayer
you want to be “getting up” from your knees.

Our lack of knowledge costs us.

Proverbs 2 goes on to say…

“turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding,
and if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.”

Treasure hunting starts with respect…

“The Fear of the Lord”

You and I need to take seriously our search.

Our heart must be in it.

"Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased
to give you the kingdom… Provide purses for yourselves that will
not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted,
where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Luke 12:32-34

Wisdom, knowledge, understanding and
discernment all come from the Lord.

These 4 things all have to be working in our hearts.

“Then you will understand what is right and just
and fair — every good path.
For wisdom will enter your heart,
and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
Discretion will protect you,
and understanding will guard you.”

When you and I have wisdom in our
heart and knowledge in our soul…

Discretion or discernment and understanding
with protect us from the pirates.

Scripture Reading

Proverbs 2:1-11 NIV

2 My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
2 turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding,
3 and if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
4 and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.
6 For the Lord gives wisdom,
and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
7 He holds victory in store for the upright,
he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
8 for he guards the course of the just
and protects the way of his faithful ones.

9 Then you will understand what is right and just
and fair — every good path.
10 For wisdom will enter your heart,
and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
11 Discretion will protect you,
and understanding will guard you.
