Knowledge Everything you need

Knowledge
Everything you need

Life and Godliness comes through Knowledge of Christ

You have heard it said…
“Knowledge is power” and “Ignorance is bliss”

These statements are true.

We live in an age where information,
“knowledge” is at our fingertips.

Literately, a touch on a smart phone can
give you information on any subject.

I think I use the internet every day for a “How to Lesson”.

I get more done, save money, stop mistakes when
I take a minute to do a simple search on the internet.

One of the problems I have with the internet
is I have to filter out so much junk.

The source of information filled with advertising, opinions
and other stuff that makes my search more difficult.

I find it strange that some want to be ignorant and
won’t have a computer or smart phone and I understand it.

I sometimes want to lose my phone
and computer and live a simple life.

Whichever camp you are in there
is a knowledge you must have.

There is a knowledge that will make
every aspect of life meaningful.

There is a source of knowledge that is true
and trustworthy and commercial free.

This source of knowledge is not about the
new fad but truth for all generations.

The information is fact based and cannot lie.

So let’s look at this source of knowledge…

“Knowledge of God and of Jesus Christ”2 Peter 1:2

Here is what you get…

“In abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.”

You get “grace”

Maybe the greatest need all of us
have is the need to be accepted.

We all are looking for a smile, the
sign someone took interest in us.

When we get to know God and Jesus Christ
we learn God is full of favor (that is grace).

In the Bible (God’s Word to us) we find scores of
examples of God’s compassion and desire to see us succeed.

Also we discover God’s protection and
eternal plan which gives us peace in
the face of our greatest enemy death.

The fact that God is “Divine”.

His power is limitless and He uses His power to
give us everything we need for “life” and “godliness”.

Everything we need is found in our knowledge
of God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

So your need and my need are met by our “knowledge”.

How much we know of God and Jesus Christ
determines how much grace and peace we experience.

On God’s end of things, He is limitless but our
lack of knowledge keeps us from the endless resource.

He has the power to give you everything you
need for life and godliness but you can’t have
it or recognize it without knowledge of Him.

So the bottom line is how much time do we
spend getting to know God and Jesus Christ?

When it comes to knowing God
what you don’t know will hurt you.

This knowledge is more than information.

It is life changing.

Through our knowledge of Him, we are
able to participate in the divine nature.

His divine nature is glory and goodness.

The knowledge of God will change your nature, character.

The divine nature makes us people of glory
(honor, dignity) and makes you good.

Our character and desires makes
a huge difference in our life.

So our knowledge of God is
also to be applied to our life.

It is not just people that are destroyed for
a lack of knowledge, it is “God’s people”
who are destroyed for a lack of knowledge.

Study to show yourself approved.

Know what God has promised you.

It all comes “in abundance through the
knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.”

Scripture Reading

2 Peter 1:2-11 NIV

2 Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.

3 His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins.

10 Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall, 11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
