Marriage Blessing
At the end of most marriage ceremonies,
a blessing will be
spoken.
Well-wishing and blessings are a
wonderful gift to the bride and groom.
Many blessings are a hope and pray that
God will enrich the lives of the married couple.
So how will God bless the marriage?
From the beginning, God designed marriage
and God upholds all He
has designed.
There is a security we can rely on when
we stay within the design of God.
God said, “Whatsoever
God has
joined together let no
man separate.”
There is a new and special connection with
God as the couple leaves father and mother.
There is a new authority and power to
change the world through their lives and family.
God blesses them with the unity
of sexual pleasure and procreation.
God is the adhesive bond to marriage.
“A cord of three
strands is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:12
The closer a couple gets to God, the closer they get
to each other and their strength becomes incredible.
As a couple unites with God, He will lead
them into situations that will bless them.
These situations will develop their
character as they walk together.
It is true this is another way of saying…
There will be difficult times they will share as well.
He will allow you enough tears to keep you tender.
Enough hurts to keep you compassionate.
Enough failure to keep your hands clenched tightly in His.
And enough success to make you
certain that you walk with Him.
Remember when God
said…
“Marriage should be
honored by all…”
He followed it up with…
"Never will I
leave you;
never will I forsake
you."
So we say with
confidence,
"The Lord is my
helper;
I will not be afraid.
What can man do to
me?"
Hebrews
13:4-6 NIV
The greatest blessing in marriage is God.
Scripture Reading
Matthew 19:4-6 NIV
4 "Haven't you read," he replied, "that at
the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' 5 and said, 'For this reason a man will leave
his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one
flesh'?
6 So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has
joined together,
let man not separate."
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 NIV
9 Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their work:
10 If one falls down,
his friend can help him up.
But pity the man who falls
and has no one to help him up!
11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?
12 Though one may be overpowered,
two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
