Why Buy Gold

The Gold Standard

By William M. Self, Sr.

God says buy from me gold

It is worth the effort to get your building material for life from God

Because they last unlike wood, hay or straw

They last for eternity

Why Buy Gold

The first mention of gold in the Bible
is found in Genesis 2:11-12.

The gold is in the first river,
watering the Garden of Eden.

It says of that gold…
The gold of that land is good”.

What makes gold good?

The quality of gold is it does not parish easily.

Scientists have discovered over 100 basic “elements”.

“Elements” are the basic building
blocks of the material universe.

Gold is one of the 92 naturally
occurring elements found on earth.

There is no known substance that can destroy gold.

It can be dissolved by chemical means,
but even then it remains as gold-only
in a more widely dispersed state.

1 Corinthians 3 tells us Jesus is
the foundation of every believer.

We are to build on that foundation.

Everything you and I do in life is
placed on the foundation of Christ.

Everything put on that foundation
will be tested for its quality.

Gold along with silver, costly stones, wood,
hay or straw are compared to our works,
the things we do with our lives.

Some of these materials or works
will not have any lasting value.

One of the greatest qualities
of gold is its ability to last.

There are many other elements
that can be mixed with gold.

Many things look good because we
plate them with a thin layer of gold.

God says… “Buy from Me gold”.

If I might play on words…

Live “by” faith; “Buy” faith from God.

Buy from God the thing that will last.

Gold may be rare and difficult to find, but don’t settle for less.

Make sure you are not getting your materials
for life from any other source than God.

Build a life of eternal value.

Scripture Reading

Revelation 3:18 NIV
18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire,
so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear,
so you can cover your shameful nakedness;
and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.

1 Corinthians 3:10-15 NIV
But each one should be careful how he builds. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work. 14 If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. 15 If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames.
