The Million Dollar Life
By William M. Self, Sr.
We never stop looking for hidden treasure
The Bible says it is
“Christ in you, the hope of glory”
Hidden Treasure
My granddaughters love treasure hunting.
Sandy and I for years have loved to take the kids to
the Maumee River in the summer when the water is low.
Each one of them has their own bag to put their treasure.
Lexi is the queen of treasure hunting.
Her bag is full in just a few minutes with
stones, shells, parts of trees, fish bones.
We all love treasure hunting.
Whether it is at the department store or
we have our own metal detector.
One of the most exciting things about life
is the hope of
tomorrow’s treasures.
We search for those things that will enrich our life.
It takes a good eye, an intuition, to find treasure.
Many treasures are walked over every day.
We all know they are out there…
treasures that have
been hidden for centuries.
There are a group of treasure hunters
that have been given a map.
This map has been passes down
from one generation to another.
Many lost their lives and suffered great pain
to get this map to the next generation.
The riches, or this treasure, and mystery
are not found in a faraway place.
The hope you and I have been searching for…
The riches to a fulfilled life are disclosed to
a group of people called the saints or believers.
And it is… “Christ in
you the hope of glory”.
The Apostle Paul struggled through life
and even died so we could have this treasure.
He prayed that the “eyes
of your heart may be
enlightened in order
that you may know the hope”.
Paul said it this way…
“My purpose is that
they may be encouraged in
heart and united in love, so that they may
have
the full riches of
complete understanding,
in order that they may know the mystery of
God,
namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the
treasures of wisdom
and knowledge.”
Did you find your treasure today?
Have you shared your treasure with someone else?
Scripture Reading
Ephesians
1:17-19 NIV
18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may
be enlightened
in order
that you may know the hope to which he has
called you,
the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,
19 and his
incomparably great power for us who believe.
Colossians
1:26-2:5 NIV
26 the
mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now
disclosed to the saints. 27 To them God has chosen to make known among the
Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope
of glory.
28 We
proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may
present everyone perfect in Christ. 29 To this end I labor, struggling with all
his energy, which so powerfully works in me.
2 I want you
to know how much I am struggling for you and for those at Laodicea, and for all
who have not met me personally. 2 My purpose is that they may be encouraged in
heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete
understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ,
3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. 4 I tell you
this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments.
