The Gold Standard
By William M. Self, Sr.
In Revelation 3:18 God says to buy Gold from Him
His Gold Standard
will never suffer inflation
The value of righteousness will increase as the world’s
values decrease
Stick with God’s standard
Standards
Gold and silver have been highly
valued since the recording of history.
Gold and silver standards as currency
date back to the
middle ages.
Under the gold standard, gold coins
became the monetary
unit of value.
Governments later made coins of metal
with less value and printed paper
currency that could be exchanged for gold.
Today, “No country
currently uses a gold
standard as the basis
of its monetary system,
although most hold substantial gold reserves.”
Some economic historians blame the gold standard
of the 1920s for the prolonging Great Depression.
The U.S. government, as did other
countries, left the
gold standard.
In 1972, under the “Smithsonian
Agreement”,
the U.S. dollar was
devalued from
$35 per troy ounce to $38.
Then in 1973, to $42.22 per troy ounce.
In the last economic crisis, the U.S. government
printed more money to
fix the problems.
Inflation, now takes in mid 2013, $1300
to buy one troy ounce of gold.
According to Revelation 3:18,
God is on the gold
standard.
He requires of us to buy Gold from Him.
As the world leaves the Biblical standards
of God, it devalues
our lives.
Just like the currencies of today buy less
and less in comparison to gold…
So are the standards of this world.
If in 1970, you had $3500 in gold
that is 100 troy
ounces.
Today you would be rich and have $130,000.
The same is true if you keep the standards
of God… you would be
rich today.
Although people change their standards
over time and under
pressure…
God’s standards stay consistent.
As we see moral decline, righteousness
becomes more valuable.
Don’t become spiritually bankrupt…
Buy Gold from God.
Scripture Reading
Revelation
3:18 NIV
18 I counsel
you to buy from me gold refined in the fire,
so you can
become rich; and white clothes to wear,
so you can
cover your shameful nakedness;
and salve to
put on your eyes, so you can see.
