Social Distancing A Psalm of David and Jesus

Social Distancing
A Psalm of David and Jesus

John the Baptist says
"Look, the Lamb of God,
who takes away the sin of the world! John 1:29, 36
Jesus modeled Psalms 23
Everything we look to Jesus, the Good Shepherd, for in Psalms 23
Was something He walked through as the Lamb of God
Take some time to think of Psalm 23 fulfillment in Jesus
And it will help you see how this Psalm will be fulfilled in your life

A Psalm of David and Jesus

David writes Psalms 23.

When he says The LORD is my Shepherd,
we clearly see Jesus as the Shepherd.

The Shepherd of not only David,
but a Shepherd we can relate to.

But let’s take a fresh and
different look at Psalms 23.

Let’s look at it not as a Psalm
of David, but a Psalm of Jesus.

Why do I take a look at it this way?

Because John the Baptist says…

“Look Behold the Lamb of God.”
John 1:29, 36

Because Jesus walked through
every aspect of this Psalm.

Jesus, the Good Shepherd, laid
everything down to become like us.

Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with
God something to be grasped,
but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
Philippians 2:6-7

Jesus became like us.

Jesus went through the
Valley of the Shadow of Death.

 And on the other side,
 He gained the highest Glory.

And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death
 — even death on a cross!
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth
Philippians 2:8-10

Jesus now lives in the
House of the Lord forever.

As you look at Jesus’ life,
 can you see…

He was not in want.

  Jesus laid down in green
pastures and quiet waters.
Matthew 15:29-ff

Can you see where Jesus’ soul is restored?
Luke 4:1-15

Can you find Him guided by the Father
on the path of righteousness
for the Father’s Name Sake?
John 5:19-23

Can you see Him walking
in the Valley of Calvary?

As he stood on trial,
He showed no fear.

He could have called ten thousand
angels, the rod and staff of God.

He was comforted in the fact that even
though the world’s rod seemed greater…

God the Father was still in control.
John 18:36

There is a table called the Marriage Supper
of the Lamb, the Father has prepared for Him.
Revelation 19:6-ff

He is anointed from head to toe.
Psalms 133; Luke 4:18-19

His cup overflows with more than
enough to fill our cups for all eternity.

For eternity Goodness
and Love follow Him.

Jesus lives in the House
of the LORD forever.
Revelation 11:15

That is the Good Shepherd
 we follow.

That is why we have confidence to embrace
Psalms 23 for ourselves, even in death.

So take some time to think of
Psalm 23 fulfilled in Jesus.

And it will help you see how this
Psalm will be fulfillment in your life.

Scripture Reading

Psalms 23:1-24:1 NIV
23:1 A psalm of David.

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
