Social Distancing
He Restores My Soul
A more dangerous
social distancing is taking place
It started with sin
A man allegedly
committed a crime
An officer killed a
man
People filled the
streets and destroyed the livelihood of their neighbors
American’s souls are
filled with anger and hate
It is a time to
examine our soul
A time to pray for
God to restore our soul
Without the restoring
of the soul there will continue to be injustice
Righteousness will
never be obtained
Righteousness should not be looked at as a
spiritual word
Righteousness should
be the cry of humanity
Doing wrong, reaps
wrong
Doing right, reaps
righteousness
Without righteousness
there is no peace and no joy
Good Shepherd,
restore our soul and lead us in the path of righteousness. A-Men!
He Restores My Soul
A more dangerous social
distancing is taking place.
It started with sin.
A man allegedly committed a crime.
He was arrested.
The officer arresting
him used abusive force.
Humiliating this human being in hand
cuffs by holding his face to the
pavement with the officer’s knee.
The arrested man died.
The whole thing is on video
and viewed by the nation.
The media reports the
officer’s
actions as a horrible crime, and it was.
A crowd turned into a violent protest.
It is not just a matter of justice
anymore, but a racial issue.
In Milwaukee, the violent protesters
burned and vandalized hundreds of businesses.
Now hundreds of people have
suffered loss to their businesses.
Thousands of innocent multiracial
people have lost their jobs and a
community to shop and live.
The violence has spread throughout
the United States in many cities.
One sin led to another to another.
Souls need to be restored.
How will America’s soul be restored?
When the soul is filled with anger,
hatred, discord, fits of rage, selfish
ambition, dissensions, factions and envy…
People become enemies
and they fight;
they become jealous,
angry, and ambitious.
They separate into
parties and groups
Galatians
5:20 TEV
What is in the soul spreads.
It is like a seed that chokes
out life of everything good.
If we are ever to see
the right thing done…
We must stop and restore our soul.
Hate and anger keep the
mind from thinking properly.
You cannot think straight when
your soul is full of hate and anger.
The things we have seen in
Milwaukee have made us all angry.
We have all found things we hate
from the terrible actions of others.
It is time we check our soul.
It is a time to restore our soul.
Psalms 23 gives us a process to
making things right in verse 3…
He restores my soul
He guides me in paths
of righteousness
for His name's sake.
Our soul needs to be
restored
before we can see and walk
on the path of righteousness.
You cannot be guided on the path
of righteousness if your soul is
contaminated with anger and hate.
I know the scripture says…
“For His name's sake”
I wish all people would hold to
the righteous standard of the Lord.
But this makes sense even
if you do not believe in God.
It is a time to examine our soul.
A time to pray for
God to restore our soul.
Without the restoring of the soul
there will continue to be injustice.
Righteousness will never be obtained.
Righteousness should
not be
looked at as a spiritual word.
Righteousness should
be the cry of humanity.
Doing wrong, reaps wrong.
Doing right, reaps righteousness.
Without righteousness,
there is no peace and
no joy.
Good Shepherd, restore our soul
and lead us in the path of
righteousness. A-Men!
Scripture Reading
Psalms 23:1-24:1 NIV
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.
4 Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.
