Comfort From the Rod and Staff Part 1
For all the times you
have been attacked
How many times has God
keep you from harm with the Rod and Staff
The battle is real
and if we don’t feel it from time to time
We tend to let down
our guard and become complacent
This cannot happen because
too many people have not come into the sheep fold
And are dying in the
battle
Peter’s faith did not
fail him in the long run
Because of that, an
untold number of people have been rescued from evil
And enjoy the Good
Shepherd’s Rod and Staff
We also enjoy the
comfort of the Shepherd because they too laid down their lives
Remember the sheep go
in and out to find pasture
Sometimes we are very
secure from all harm
But we are to go out
into the world and battle for the lives of others
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were
harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the
workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers
into his harvest field." Matthew 9:36-38
Comfort From the Rod
and Staff Part 1
There are only two reasons
for the Rod and Staff.
One is to protect us from enemies.
During the day we can see trouble around us.
Some times that trouble
inflicts pain and suffering.
The devil is like a roaring lion
seeking whom he may devour
I Peter 5:8.
I Peter 5:8.
Peter’s life was at risk as Jesus said…
Satan desired to sift him as wheat.
Interesting Jesus did not
say He stopped Satan.
Jesus said He prayed…
His prayer was that
Peter’s faith would not fail.
Jesus must have known Satan
would get an upper hand on
Peter because He also prayed…
And when you have
turned back,
strengthen your
brothers.
Luke 22:31-32
You and I can sometimes feel like
God is not protecting us as He should.
We know Peter got bit by Satan
in such a way that Peter
denied Jesus three times.
To most of us we question why Jesus
would pray for us and not defend us.
Jesus warned us that we would suffer
and even die for His name sake.
So the Rod and Staff does not stop all
attacks until the final day when
Jesus will return with a Rod of Iron.
Revelation
19:15
Now if you are questioning
Jesus protecting you, think about this…
Most of the time Jesus uses
the Rod and Staff to protect
you is when you are sleeping.
For all the times you have
been attacked…
How many times has
God kept
you from harm with the Rod and Staff?
The battle is real.
And if we don’t feel
it from time
to time, we tend to let down our
guard and become complacent.
This cannot happen because too
many people have not come into the
sheep fold and are dying in the battle.
Peter’s faith did not fail him in the long run.
And because of that…
An untold number of
people have been
rescued from evil and enjoy
the Good Shepherd’s Rod and Staff.
We also enjoy the comfort of the Shepherd
because they too laid down their lives.
Remember the sheep go in
and out to find pasture.
Sometimes we are very
secure from all harm…
But we are to go out into the world
and battle for the lives of others.
When he saw the
crowds,
he had compassion on
them,
because they were
harassed and helpless,
like sheep without a shepherd.
Then he said to his
disciples,
"The harvest is
plentiful but the workers are few.
Ask the Lord of the
harvest, therefore,
to send out workers
into his harvest field."
Matthew
9:36-38
The next devotional will talk about
the second reason for the Rod and Staff.
Scripture Reading
Psalms 23:1-24:1 NIV
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.
4 Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.
