Social Distancing My Cup Over Flows

Social Distancing
My Cup Over Flows

I am in a season where a lot is being taken out of me and I don’t think I am alone
The hatred in Washington over the impeachment trial,
The Corona virus, the Protests and the Riots
These things are draining
The words “my cup over flows” means more than enough
Jesus tells us where and how to fill our cups to over flowing in Matthew 6
As He teaches us to pray to our Father in Heaven
God is able to open the windows of heaven and pour out such a blessing
You will not have room for it Malachi 3:10
Every good and perfect gift is from above,
coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights James 1:17
Our cup can over flow
Take your eyes off the things on earth that rust and fade away 1Peter 1:4; 5:4
Lift up your head look up and see your Father in Heaven
Who has a store house full of good gifts to give you
Open the gates of heaven with prayer and praise
And get ready to receive a blessing your cup will not be able to contain Psalms 100

My Cup Over Flows

I am in a season where a lot is being taken
out of me and I don’t think I am alone.

The hatred in Washington
over the impeachment trial,…

The Corona virus,
the protests and the riots.

These things are draining.

They are sucking the energy from us.

I have thought maybe I will take a trip
to get away from all that is going on,
but there is nowhere in the world to go.

We are all having to deal
with the draining going on.

I hear everybody talking about the loss
of hope of ever getting back to normal.

We are all trying to find
ways to deal with the drain.

I am amazed at how many people
a few months ago were glued to news…

But now avoid the news.

There is a part of me that reads
 “my cup over flows” and
says than why do I feel so drained?

It is not like I did not know
there were all these problems
in America and the world.

These problems have been like the hot lava
below the surface and we could ignore them.

But now the volcano is erupting
and destroying everything in sight.

That is where the problem is…

 Everything in sight.

We got a problem…

 The drain is larger than
any of us have ever seen.

It is a time when we need more.

Where is our focus?

Paul says in 2 Corinthians 4:16-18…

Therefore we do not lose heart.
Though outwardly we are wasting away,
yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
For our light and momentary troubles
are achieving for us an eternal glory
that far outweighs them all.
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen,
but on what is unseen .
For what is seen is temporary,
but what is unseen is eternal.

Paul talks about fixing
our eyes on what is unseen.

He also says what is unseen is eternal.

Jesus tells us to look to our Father in
Heaven who is unseen in Matthew 6.

These few short verses that
amazingly reveal how to pray…

Focus on our Father in Heaven.

Focus on the never ending
resources of the Kingdom of Heaven.

Our needs are not found in
the Republicans or Democrats.

Our needs are not found
in any ethnic group.

Our needs answers are not found
in the World Health Organization.

Every one of these groups is dry,
for all the answers they give us,
there is a multitude of questions.

If you are like me, they all have
offended your common sense.

It seems like there is an
overabundance of Stupid.

But Jesus says pray for the Kingdom of
Heaven to come on earth as it is in heaven.

You and I have a cup.

And you cannot fill a cup by pouring up.

Your cup cannot be filled from below…

The source has to come from above.

The only source that will
fill your cup is in heaven.

The Kingdom of Heaven is full of
everything you have need of…

Your daily bread.

Your need to forgive and be forgiven.

Strength to overcome your greatest temptations.

And deliver you from the evil one.

Matthew 6:18 tells us your prayers
and fasting are not obvious to others.

They are unseen in a world of
overwhelming visual activity.

But our unseen Father sees
what you do in secret.

In times like these…

Depression makes it hard to lift up
your head and to lift up your arms.

When these things begin to take place,
stand up and lift up your heads,
because your redemption is drawing near."
Luke 21:28

I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer,
without anger or disputing.
1 Timothy 2:8

Lift up your heads, O you gates;
be lifted up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
Psalms 24:7

Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the LORD.
May the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth,
bless you from Zion.
Psalms 134:2-3

The Scriptures tell us over
and over again to “lift up”.

To lift up our Heads, our Eyes,
our Hands, our Soul, our Voice.

Why? Because that is
where our help comes from.

The words “my cup over flows”
means more than enough.

God is able to open the windows of heaven
and pour out such a blessing
you will not have room for it.
Malachi 3:10

Every good and perfect gift is from above,
coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights
James 1:17

Our cup can over flow.

Take your eyes off the things on
earth that rust and fade away.
1Peter 1:4; 5:4

Lift up your head, look up and
see your Father in Heaven
who has a store house full
of good gifts to give you.

Open the gates of Heaven with prayer and
praise and get ready to receive a blessing
your cup will not be able to contain.
Psalms 100

Scripture Reading

Psalms 23:1-24:1 NIV

23:1 A psalm of David.

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
