Covid-19
Where Does Your Wisdom Come From?
2020 is a full year
with Covid-19 and a presidential election
We have men and women
giving us their wisdom
They all speak as if
they have the superior wisdom
God’s Spirit resides
in the believer
The very Spirit of
God fills the mind of the believer
What does that mean?
The Believer
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself
against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the
obedience of Christ; 2
Corinthians 10:5 KJV
There is only one
goal of the Believer to…
Have the mind of Christ
2020 is a time to
make sure that we step aside from all the wisdom of man
And set our minds on
Christ
What is in your mind
and heart?
Where Does Your
Wisdom Come From?
2020 is a full year and yet
this year is leaving us empty.
Unlike ever before every day our President,
Governors, medical leaders, and business
leaders are speaking to us about the virus.
It is an election year and the media is in full
gear even though the candidates can’t hold rallies.
As we look for answers…
We have men and women
giving us their wisdom.
Some are coming with eloquence of speech.
Some are coming with deep emotional conviction.
They all speak as if they have the superior wisdom.
I find myself feeling sick of all their
wisdom, even the ones I agree with.
All the wisdom we hear on our TV and
through social media has at least two sides.
As I find myself tired of all the fighting,
I find 1 Corinthians
2 very refreshing.
Paul says…
I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling.
The older I get, the more I appreciate humility.
I get tired of being shouted
at as if volume makes it right.
Paul describes his message this way…
My message and my
preaching were
not with wise and
persuasive words
So what made Paul’s words powerful?
But with a
demonstration of the Spirit's power,
so that your faith
might not rest on
men's wisdom, but on
God's power.
You and I need the power of God.
Power that builds faith and
it comes by the Spirit of God.
I love these words in 1 Corinthians 1:9 & 10…
"No eye has seen,
no ear has heard,
no mind has conceived
what God has
prepared for those who
love him"—
10 but God has
revealed it to us by his Spirit.
The Spirit searches
all things,
even the deep things
of God.
There is hope that we can know
the things God has prepared for us.
The Spirit searches
all things,
even the deep things of God.
AND…
We have not received
the spirit of the world
but the Spirit who is
from God,
that we may understand
what God has freely given us.
This is what we speak,
not in words taught us
by human wisdom
but in words taught by
the Spirit,
expressing spiritual
truths in spiritual words.
You and I are to make
judgments on what we hear.
We are not meant to
believe everything we hear.
Remember this verse…
Prove all things;
hold fast that which
is good.
1
Thessalonians 5:21 KJV
So how do we make those judgments?
How do we make right
judgments?
The spiritual man makes
judgments about all things,
but he himself is not
subject to any man's judgment:
"For who has known the mind of the Lord
that he may instruct him?"
But we have the mind
of Christ .
God’s Spirit resides in the believer.
The very Spirit of God fills
the mind of the believer.
What does that mean?
The Believer…
Casting down
imaginations,
and every high thing
that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God,
and bringing into
captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
2 Corinthians
10:5 KJV
There is only one goal of the Believer to…
Have the mind of
Christ
2020 is a time to make sure that we
step aside from all the wisdom of man
and set our minds on Christ.

Scripture Reading
1 Corinthians 2 NIV
2:1 When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with
eloquence or superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about
God. 2 For I resolved to know nothing
while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 3 I came to you in
weakness and fear, and with much trembling. 4 My message and my preaching were
not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's
power, 5 so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power.
6 We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the
mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are
coming to nothing. 7 No, we speak of God's secret wisdom, a wisdom that has
been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. 8 None of
the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have
crucified the Lord of glory. 9 However, as it is written:
"No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has
conceived what God has prepared for those who love him"—
10 but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit.
The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.
11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within
him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.
12 We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God,
that we may understand what God has freely given us. 13 This is what we speak,
not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit,
expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. 14 The man without the Spirit does not
accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to
him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15
The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not
subject to any man's judgment:
16 "For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may
instruct him?"
But we have the mind of Christ.
