Covid-19
The Mask
I do not like to wear
a mask
BUT….
I don’t always know
the contaminates, those unseen particles from my spirit
I need to pray that
God will search me and make me aware
Not only a filter,
but heal me
Search
me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way
everlasting.
Psalms
139:23-24
I need to realize as
much as I do not like a mask it is not just for me
I wear it for others
because I care for them
Jesus died for my
sins and gave me eternal life
BUT…
I am still sick and
contagious
Until that day when
you and I are changed in a twinkling of an eye
We need a mask
A filter so we don’t
offend God and contaminate others
The Mask
In the fight against the Coronavirus,
Personal Protective
Equipment (PPE)
is at the top of the discussion list.
The mask has been a
major topic of discussion.
At the start of the outbreak there was
great concern that healthcare workers and
facilities would not
be able to handle the
needs of those affected by the virus.
The public was told not to wear a mask
unless you were sick, because health
care workers supply of mask was short.
As weeks went by and
economic concerns
increased so did the supply of mask.
The governor of Ohio strongly encouraged
citizens to wear masks when in public.
I went to Menards and was
refused entry without a mask.
I have to say I have though a lot about
masks since the start of Covid-19.
What does a mask do?
A mask is a filter.
A mask filters us from breathing into our
system unhealthy things like the Coronavirus.
A mask also filters in the other direction
protecting others if we have the virus.
I do not like masks and I felt very
uncomfortable and strange walking
through Menards with a mask.
But I think a mask is a
great idea and very effective.
What if there was a mask that could
filter out the bad things in my spirit.
It is recorded of the Apostle Paul before his
conversion, at the time he was called Saul,
that he “breathed out
murderous threats”.
Meanwhile, Saul was
still breathing out
murderous threats
against the Lord's disciples.
Acts 9:1
The word spirit means air, breath or wind.
Your spirit and my spirit are filled with particles.
What is inside of us, our anger, frustration,
bios, as well as our joys, gratitude,
peace release particles in our breath.
The way we breathe communicates to others.
Ever been frustrated
and let out a
sigh of frustration, a huff of discus?
When you and I speak,
we communicate more than words…
We communicate
particles of our spirit.
It is not only the words that offend you and I…
We are offended by
the particles
from the spirit of
others.
Like Saul, we breathe out more than words,
we breathe out attitudes from our spirit and heart.
We don’t always realize the contaminates
in our breath like being asymptomatic.
Look at Jeremiah 17:9…
The heart is deceitful
above
all things and beyond
cure.
Who can understand it?
So what if there was a mask that could
filter the contaminates of our spirit…
Set a guard over my
mouth, O LORD;
keep watch over the
door of my lips.
Psalms 141:3
If I might paraphrase the Psalmist prayer…
“Lord, put a mask over my mouth.
Put a filter over my lips.”
So how do we put on this kind of mask?
The mask must be obtained from God.
Like the Psalmist we must pray.
God judges the heart, He knows the motives.
Ever say something you wish you never had said?
God saw it deep in your spirit before you breathed it.
Trust God to not only give you a mask,
but to heal your spirit from the contaminates.
You must desire the mask
because you care about others.
Selfishness is like sneezing in someone else’s face.
Consider others Philippians 2:3-4…
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain
conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4 Each of you
should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of
others.
I do not like to wear a mask.
BUT….
I don’t always know the contaminates,
those unseen particles from my spirit.
I need to pray that God will
search me and make me aware.
Not only a filter, but heal me…
Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any
offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way
everlasting.
Psalms
139:23-24
I need to realize as much as I do not
like a mask, it is not just for me.
I wear it for others because I care for them.
Jesus died for my sins and gave me eternal life.
BUT…
I am still sick and contagious.
Until that day when you and I are
changed in a twinkling of an eye…
We need a mask
A filter.
