When Life is Risky “Chance” Point 3
Trusting in God’s
Word will decrease the chances of disaster in your life because
You will be wise and
build on a rock and not sand for a foundation
But if by chance you
are a victim of disaster
God promises to walk
with you even if it is in the valley of the shadow of death
Don’t live a life of
chance
Decrease your chances
of disaster by
Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.
Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the LORD and shun evil.
This will bring health to your body
and nourishment to your bones. Proverbs 3:5-8
When Life is Risky
“Chance” Point 3
Have you ever wondered if every-
thing in the world is planned out?
That God micromanages
everything that happens?
I was raised not believe in luck
because I am not lucky, but blessed.
Is it possible that some things
are just left up to “Chance”?
Do things just happen by chance or is every
movement planned and orchestrated?
Look at what Solomon says…
If clouds are full of
water,
they pour rain upon
the earth.
Whether a tree falls
to the south or to the north,
in the place where it
falls, there will it lie.
Ecclesiastes
11:3
Solomon uses the word…
“If” - That is a big
word.
When it comes to rain, the weatherman
will forecast a
“Chance” of rain.
The weatherman will even give the chance a percentage,
such as a 30 percent chance of rain.
If your lawn needs rain than you will probably
get the 70 percent chance of no rain.
If you have a big event outside, than you
will probably get the 30 percent chance of rain.
Ever walk through the woods and see a fallen tree,
who determined which way it would fall?
Was it by chance or did it fall
by design to the north or south?
There is no doubt in my
mine God is in
control.
He rules the universe.
In the beginning God set things in motion.
He made plants to reproduce…
God gave them the ability to reproduce.
But He does not make
those
plants reproduce each time.
As conditions change the plants
chances of reproducing change.
God set everything in order in the beginning.
His order was and is perfect.
God created Adam and Eve perfect.
Adam and Eve were given the
responsibility of taking care of the earth.
We all know the story.
Their failure and ours has caused
the chance of disaster to increase.
You and I live in a world of chance.
There is a chance you could get Covid-19.
There are reasons or conditions
that increase or decrease the chance.
It is not because God is choosing who
gets the virus and who does not.
Chance happens to all of us.
Some of us worry too much
about the chance, like…
What if the plane
should crash.
What if there is a drunk driver on the roads.
What if it rains.
Solomon realized that disaster comes by chance,
just like chance of
rain or a tree
falling to the north or not.
So how do we live with “Chance”?
Your life does not have
to be left up to chance.
Trust in the Lord…
Are not two sparrows
sold for a penny?
Yet not one of them
will fall to the ground
apart from the will of
your Father.
And even the very hairs of your head are all
numbered.
So don't be afraid;
you are worth more than many sparrows.
Matthew
10:28-31
There is a chance you could get the virus.
But God says…
Don't be afraid; you are worth
more than many
sparrows.
Look at another verse about sparrows…
Psalms 84:3-4
Even the sparrow has
found a home,
and the swallow a nest
for herself,
where she may have her
young —
a place near your
altar,
O LORD Almighty, my
King and my God.
Blessed are those who
dwell in your house;
they are ever praising
you.
If the sparrow and her young find
security at a place close to the altar,
how much more will you and your young
when you draw near to God.
The name of the LORD is
a strong tower;
the righteous run to
it and are safe.
Proverbs
18:10
Living in this world increases
your chances of disaster.
Those at the altar have humbled themselves.
Those in the House of God are
instructed in the ways of wisdom.
When disaster comes by chance or consequences,
the righteous have a
place to run.
Run to the Lord for He is a strong tower.
Yes, things happen by chance.
Trusting in God’s Word will decrease the
chances of disaster in your life because…
You will be wise and build on a rock
and not sand for a foundation.
But if by chance you
are a victim of disaster…
God promises to walk
with you even if it
is in the valley of the shadow of death.
Don’t live a life of chance.
Decrease your chances of disaster by…
Trust in the LORD with
all your heart
and lean not on your
own understanding;
in all your ways
acknowledge him,
and he will make your
paths straight.
Do not be wise in your
own eyes;
fear the LORD and shun
evil.
This will bring health
to your body
and nourishment to
your bones.

Scripture Reading
Ecclesiastes 11:1-6 NIV
Cast your bread upon the waters,
for after many days you will find it again.
2 Give portions to seven, yes to eight,
for you do not know what disaster may come upon the land.
3 If clouds are full of water,
they pour rain upon the earth.
Whether a tree falls to the south or to the north,
in the place where it falls, there will it lie.
4 Whoever watches the wind will not plant;
whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.
5 As you do not know the path of the wind,
or how the body is formed in a mother's womb,
so you cannot understand the work of God,
the Maker of all things.
6 Sow your seed in the morning,
and at evening let not your hands be idle,
for you do not know which will succeed,
whether this or that,
or whether both will do equally well.
