Covid-19
When Life is Risky “Diversify” Point 2
Fear of the
Coronavirus caused a massive pull back
The fear of disaster
makes life risky
You and I, in the
best of times, are at risk
Don’t let the risk of
life keep you from giving
Don’t let the risk of
life keep you self-centered, but invest in others
Jesus never said
there would not be risk
What He said was
"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.
In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
John 16:33
Learn how to manage
risk
Risk is always with
us
Don’t let it rule you,
but let is make you wise
Understand risk and
make the most of every opportunity
When Life is Risky
“Diversify” Point 2
Fear of the Coronavirus caused a massive pull back.
Sandy and I were in Florida for February and March.
We were going to beaches, estate sales, and auctions,
stores, meeting friends and making new friends.
We were in North Miami and Marathon
Key when things started to close…
The restaurants, businesses,
pools, parks and
beaches.
Our lives pulled back from
diverse activities to stay at home.
The stock market saw the greatest pull back
ever, as investments in almost everything
under the sun lost its value.
Solomon understood disaster is a part of life.
The fear of disaster makes life risky.
You and I, in the best of times, are at risk.
Sandy and I were having a great
time in Florida when disaster came.
We have been going to Florida for decades.
Over the last 10 years every February
some crisis takes place in my life.
It makes you think…
Do I want to go to
Florida in
February and the answer is YES!!!
Why? Because I would
rather face the crisis
in the warm sun than
the cold snow of Ohio.
Solomon gives steps, “When life is Risky…”
The first Point is…
When Life is Risky “Do Good”
Ecclesiastes
11:1
This point is carried out into Point 2…
When Life is Risky “Diversify”
Give portions to
seven, yes to eight,
for you do not know
what disaster
may come upon the land.
Ecclesiastes
11:2
Don’t let the fear of disaster
cause you to pull back.
Be diversified, invest your
life in multiple areas.
America is realizing that playing it
safe by staying at home is dangerous.
There are American’s who for fear
do not want to leave their house.
Sadly, there is good reason, as in just a few months
governments and doctors have terrified us all.
As of this writing 293,348 people have died
worldwide from the Coronavirus (as of 5/13/20).
That should concern all of us.
Our hearts should go
out to all those
who have been effected by this virus.
As terrible as this number is…
We can by looking at
the numbers see there are
greater risks that we do not seem to be concerned about.
World
wide…
391,540
Suicides this year
492,901
Road traffic accident fatalities this year
613,827
Deaths caused by HIV/AIDS this year
2,998,886
Deaths caused by cancer this year
358,162
Deaths caused by malaria this year
293,348 Coronavirus (as of 5/13/20)
We
live with these numbers that
are
greater than Covid-19 every day.
One
of the most shocking statics to me is…
15,523,610
Abortions this
year.
Babies
are killed 53 times more
than what the virus kills.
There
is no safe place, not
even
in the mother womb.
So
what is Solomon’s Point 2,
When Life is Risky “Diversify”…
Don’t
pull back, plant seeds.
Many
are getting rich because they saw
the
massive pull back as an opportunity
to
invest and diversify in the markets.
Jesus never told us to draw
back in times of tribulation.
Jesus’s parables concerning the end
times and persecution encourages us to
“Occupy till He comes”
Luke 19:13
It is risky to drive your car…
Accidents happen
every day.
But people who calculate the risk, not only
practice good driving but are alert to others.
Solomon is saying, get out there
and give portions of your life.
Find 7 or 8 places you can diverse
your time, energy and resources in…
Because you don’t know
how it will come back to you.
Some benefits of doing good
will come back to us in this life…
Give, and it shall be
given unto you; good measure, pressed down,
and shaken together, and running over, shall
men give into your bosom.
For with the same
measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
Luke 6:38 KJV
Some of your divest investments
will bring eternal reward…
I tell you, use
worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves,
so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed
into eternal dwellings.
Luke 16:9
Don’t let the risk of life keep you from giving.
Don’t let the risk of life keep you
self-centered, but invest in others.
Jesus never said there would not be risk.
What He said was…
"I have told you
these things, so that in me you may have peace.
In this world you will
have trouble.
But take heart! I have overcome the
world."
John 16:33

but let is make you wise.

the most of every opportunity.

Scripture Reading
Ecclesiastes 11:1-6 NIV
Cast your bread upon the waters,
for after many days you will find it again.
2 Give portions to seven, yes to eight,
for you do not know what disaster may come upon the land.
3 If clouds are full of water,
they pour rain upon the earth.
Whether a tree falls to the south or to the north,
in the place where it falls, there will it lie.
4 Whoever watches the wind will not plant;
whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.
5 As you do not know the path of the wind,
or how the body is formed in a mother's womb,
so you cannot understand the work of God,
the Maker of all things.
6 Sow your seed in the morning,
and at evening let not your hands be idle,
for you do not know which will succeed,
whether this or that,
or whether both will do equally well.
