When Life is Risky “Lay Down Life” Point 6
Solomon says it this
way
Sow your seed in the
morning,
and at evening let not
your hands be idle,
for you do not know
which will succeed, whether this or that,
or whether both will
do equally well. Ecclesiastes
11:6
Risk should never get
in the way of doing good
Jesus said about His life,
No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself.
I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.
This commandment have I received of my Father. John 10:18 KJV
No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself.
I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.
This commandment have I received of my Father. John 10:18 KJV
This makes me think
of the healthcare workers
They made a choice to
help and heal others
They choose to lay
down their lives to help others
The risk could not
take them
They laid down their
life to do good
How about you and I?
How many seeds will you
plant today?
Don’t wait till
tomorrow
Till conditions are
more favorable
Sow good seeds
today
When Life is Risky “Lay
Down Life” Point 6
The Corona virus has reminded
us that life is full of risk.
In early February listening to the news,
it sounded like we
were all going to die.
I remember being in Florida and hearing one of the
first cases in Florida was in the county we were in.
The risk level increased as we followed through
with our plans to
stay in North Miami on March 11.
It was spring break and south of us the beaches
and nightclubs were packed with young people.
On the news we heard the mayor of
Miami had been diagnosed with Covid-19.
We made some adjustments to living,
but we kept busy and had a great time.
I know life is risky.
When I was younger, I
loved to
water ski and almost drowned.
On a beautiful camping trip with my family
on a perfect
evening, I was thrown
from my boat at 30 miles an hour.
Getting the mail at age 60, I was hit by a truck.
The other day I picked up a board
and got a spinner in my finger and
I still have not been able to get it out.
I know God watches over me,
but I still, like everyone else, walk
through the valley of
the shadow of death.
I have had days where everything seemed to go
wrong and I wished I had never got out of bed.
Jesus said…
The thief comes only
to steal and kill and destroy;
I have come that they
may have life, and have it to the full.
John 10:10
Your life and mine are meant to be “FULL”.
Jesus also said…
"My Father is
always at his work to this very day,
and I, too, am working."
John 5:17
What was Jesus doing?
…how God anointed
Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power,
and how he went around
doing good and healing
all who were under the
power of the devil, because God was with him.
Acts 10:38
Jesus was doing “Good” …
And He did not let the powers
of the devil hinder Him.
Your life and mine are meant to be working.
God "will give to
each person according to what he has done."
To those who by persistence in doing good seek
glory,
honor and immortality,
he will give eternal life.
Romans 2:6-8
Let us not become
weary in doing good,
for at the proper time
we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Therefore, as we have
opportunity, let us do good to all people,…
Galatians
6:8-10
So what if you take the risk and you suffer?
But if you suffer for
doing good and you endure it,
this is commendable before God. To this you
were called,
because Christ
suffered for you, leaving you an example,
that you should follow
in his steps.
1 Peter
2:20-21
Solomon says it this way…

which will succeed,
whether this or that,
or whether both will

Scripture Reading
Ecclesiastes 11:1-6 NIV
Cast your bread upon the waters,
for after many days you will find it again.
2 Give portions to seven, yes to eight,
for you do not know what disaster may come upon the land.
3 If clouds are full of water,
they pour rain upon the earth.
Whether a tree falls to the south or to the north,
in the place where it falls, there will it lie.
4 Whoever watches the wind will not plant;
whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.
5 As you do not know the path of the wind,
or how the body is formed in a mother's womb,
so you cannot understand the work of God,
the Maker of all things.
6 Sow your seed in the morning,
and at evening let not your hands be idle,
for you do not know which will succeed,
whether this or that,
or whether both will do equally well.
