The Main Thing
Recognizing the Main Thing
The grass is greener
on the other side
If you are not
seeking the Kingdom of God first
Recognizing the Main
Thing
Jesus said…
“Seek first the Kingdom of God.”
What does it mean to seek first the Kingdom?
Recognize the Kingdom has a King…
God who created the earth.
Everything we need for food, drink and clothing,
the richness of materials…
God created and placed it all in the
earth before God created man.
When God created man, all God had
created was put into the hands of man.
God who made the wealth of
the earth made it to sustain us.
To seek the Kingdom first is…
To seek God first.
Because God placed in His
Kingdom the principles for all our needs.
Adam and Eve enjoyed all the treasures
of the earth as they fellowshipped with God.
When they sought something other than
God, the earth became cursed to them.
Adam and Eve sought
their own wisdom…
Their own principles.
They sought to make themselves first.
And when God sought them, they hid.
Why do we seek God first?
Why is God to be the main thing?
Because He made us and
designed life for us to thrive in.
Thousands of years of history has proven that
manmade kingdoms, human government can be
nothing more than the tree Adam and Eve eat from.
They eat from the tree of good and evil.
When we seek anything other than the Tree of Life,
the best we can enjoy is a life of good and evil.
God in His mercy sent His Son Jesus Christ
to give us back the fruit of the Tree of Life.
His message is of a Kingdom in Heaven.
Jesus kept to the main thing, Kingdom principles,
from the beginning of His ministry to the end.
Jesus displayed and thought love.
He taught us to love God and one another.
We were created with
purpose.
This is the first thing we must recognize.
If we believe this…
We will seek God and
His Kingdom in order
to understand the purpose for our existence.
When Adam and Eve sought to be servants of
God’s wisdom, God gave them the earth to rule over.
When Adam and Eve were
seeking to make themselves wise…
What they were to rule,
ruled over them.
Jesus Christ came to set us free from the
rule of this world by becoming His servant
that we might rule and reign with Him forever.
To seek God’s Kingdom first, we must
recognize our need to be a servant of the King.
There is a way that seems right to
a man but the end is destruction.
Servants seek to do the will of the King.
Not rule as the king.
The Kingdom of God is
founded in righteousness.
The kingdoms of man are
founded in good and evil.
Don’t settle for less than
Jesus Christ and His righteousness.
Stop settling for eating
the fruit of good and evil.
Eat from the Tree of Life and
enjoy the Fruit of Righteousness.
Scripture Reading
Matthew 6:28-34 NIV
28 "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the
lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not
even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is
how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is
thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or
'What shall we wear?' 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your
heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his
righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore
do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has
enough trouble of its own.
