The Main Thing The Power of the Gospel

The Main Thing

The Power of the Gospel

Are you tired of violence?
Tired of hearing the media assaulting people and not the issues
Tired of paying higher costs because of others wrongs
Than do something about it
Preach the Gospel
Don’t be ashamed of it
“because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written:
"The righteous will live by faith."    Romans 1:16-17
Make this of first importance  1 Corinthians 15:3-4

The Power of the Gospel

The Apostle Paul says…

For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures
1Corinthians 1:3-4

“First importance” is to pass on the message
of who God is and what He has done for us.

This is the message of the Gospel, The Good News.

The first four books of the New
Testament are called the Gospels.

The Gospel of Mark starts by saying…

The beginning of the gospel about Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
It is written in Isaiah the prophet:…..
Mark 1:1-2

The beginning of the Gospels start with
the life of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Mark at the start of his Gospel tells us
that even though the revealing of Jesus
Christ as God starts with the coming of Jesus.

The Old Testament prophets laid a foundation
as they spoke of the coming Messiah.

Paul gives us a description of
the Gospel in Romans 1:16-17…

I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."

Paul says he is not ashamed of the Gospel.

Why?

“Because it is the power of God for
the salvation of everyone who believes

How is this worked out?

“For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."

Faith in God starts and finishes with righteousness.

The Power of the Gospel
changes lives like nothing else.

This is why Paul says…

“Yet when I preach the gospel, I cannot boast, for I am compelled to preach.
Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!”
1 Corinthians 9:15-16

Real life change comes as people are introduced to Jesus.

Jesus tells us all to…

“Go and make disciples of all nations”

Disciples… followers of Jesus.
Our command is to do what Jesus did...

“Teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”

The main thing for us to do is to preach the Gospel.

Introduce people to Jesus Christ the Son of God.

And share with them the teachings of Jesus.

This is it… stick with the main
thing, the thing of first importance.

This is the only lasting thing that will turn
a life of sin into a life of righteousness.
