Power Denying the Power

Power

Denying the Power

There is nothing more powerful than God’s Word
God’s Word is powerful because it is “TRUTH”
No matter how hard the truth is we must never alter from it
because when we question “Did God real say”
When we believe and say things that make us feel good
We deny the Power of God
All the power and authority aside from the truth is weakness and lies
Let God be true and every man a liar

Denying the Power

Forms or appearance of Godliness…

“having a form of godliness but denying its power”

I suppose we could spend a
long time talking about this subject.

Lately, I have been thinking about the
people who have their own idea of God.

I was talking to a very
nice man who loved to talk.

He was telling me of his
beloved deceased mother.

He said she was a very spiritual woman.

Although she followed Christian beliefs
 she embraced spiritualist ideas.

She told her son that when
people die they go to a better place.

What a nice thought and I am sure
you have heard others say the same thing.

But is it true?

I realized that the loving affections this man had for
his mother would not allow him to receive the truth
and bring correction to his false understanding.

Not everyone goes to a
better place when they die.

I had lunch with a man
who has become a friend.

I am sure if you meet this man,
about 70 years of age, you would like him.

But as we had lunch he told me he
could not believe there was a hell.

That the only hell is here on earth.

I am sure you have heard people say this, too.

I have come to realize that we all want
to adjust the truth to make us feel good.

We all struggle with hard truth realities.

Unfortunately, there are hard truth realities.

We can spin it any way we want to make us
feel good, but the truth will still be the truth.

Paul reminds us of two Egyptian
magicians who opposed Moses.

History seems to tell us they were ones who
when Aaron threw down his rod it became a snake
and when they threw down their rods
they became snakes and Aaron’s ate theirs.

It seems Jannes and Jambres
followed Moses out of Egypt.

We are told they…
“opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth —
men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected.”

Paul says that there are people who are…
always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth”

The truth is not always easy to take.

But only the truth will set us free.

It is easy for us to want to believe a
lie because it will make us feel better.

The scripture tells us to believe on the
Lord Jesus Christ and we will be saved.

Jesus says I am the way the truth
and the life no man comes to the
Father except through Me.

So what is the point?

When we make the decision to believe
something because it makes us feel good…

When we believe something because it makes
God more agreeable with our way of thinking…

We change God.

We become God.

We tell God how it should be.

This is the very foundation to sin.

This is what Adam and Eve did in the garden.

In simple terms if God lets us into
His heaven with all our thoughts…

What would heaven be like?

Heaven will be just like earth.

And some people
believe hell is now on earth.

Our thinking is important.

Our thinking will not change the truth.

So the question is this…

Are you like Jannas and Jambres
who mix your beliefs with God’s.

Or, like the weak willed women
who are swayed by sinful desires?

 The form of godliness.

That deny the power of God.

That form many times comes in simple ways…

God could never send anyone to hell.

We will all go to a better place.

When we become like Adam and Eve and
question God’s Word, we deny the power of God.

“Did God really say”

Paul ends 2 Timothy 3 by saying…

“Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Let God’s Word be the only
source of godliness in your life.

Scripture Reading

2 Timothy 3:1-4:1 NIV

3:1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.

6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth — men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. 9 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.

10 You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, 11 persecutions, sufferings — what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. 12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
