Power
Power of the Age to Come
The Coming of Christ
and His Kingdom is powerful
All the enemies of
God will be put under His feet even death
Everyone at that time
will not be following their own beliefs and ideas
We will know Him and
nothing else will matter
No one will be
focused on their own agenda
Because there will be
only one agenda
Jesus Christ
That will be powerful
Until then God is
giving out samples
“have
tasted the goodness of … the powers of the coming age”
Hebrews 6:5
Power of the Age to
Come
The Book of Hebrews gives us a
serious look at the things of God.
Chapter 6 encourages us to move
on past the foundation of the faith.
Verses 4 - 6 have been a source of many debates.
The debate is…
Can a true believer lose their salvation?
This devotional is not
about the debate, but about…
“the Power of the Age
to come”
Verses 4 and 5 gives us a list of
blessings a person can receive…
Enlightenment
“those who have once
been enlightened”
Jesus is the heavenly
gift
“who have tasted the
heavenly gift,”
“If you know the gift
of God…”
you would ask Him for a drink
John 4:10
“Since you have tasted
that the Lord is good”
1 Peter 2:3
Impartation of the Holy
Spirit
“who have shared in
the Holy Spirit”
Eat the good Word of
God
“who have tasted the
goodness of the word of God”
Eternal Kingdom
“have tasted the
goodness of …
the powers of the
coming age”
The power of the coming age is
describe so wonderfully in Revelation 21…
Then I saw a new
heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed
away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new
Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully
dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying,
"Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They
will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 He
will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or
crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
Revelation
21:1-4
Hebrews 6:5 tells us we can taste the
power of the Eternal Kingdom now.
We can experience God being with us,
wiping our tears, pain, sickness, and sorrows.
Not only can we receive of the age to come
now we are encouraged to pray for it.
Our Father in Heaven Praise to Your Name.
Your Kingdom come your will be done
in earth as it is in
Heaven
Matthew 6:
9, 10
Jesus’ ministry from beginning to
end focused on the Kingdom of God.
He also said it was near.
Jesus demonstrated the power of the age to come
as He healed the sick and even raised the dead.
When Jesus went back to the
Father He sent the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit has empowered us with gifts.
Those gifts give us a taste of
the power of the age
to come.
Yes, “the power of the
age to come”
is in the future.
But it is something God
wants us to taste now.
Each taste should give us the desire to
long for His coming where we can
enjoy the whole meal for all eternity.
The coming of Christ and
His kingdom is powerful.
All the enemies of God will be
put under His feet even death.
Everyone at that time will not be
following their own beliefs and ideas.
We will know Him and nothing else will matter.
No one will be focused on their own agenda
because there will be only one agenda…
Jesus Christ
That will be powerful.
Scripture Reading
Hebrews
6:4-6 NIV
4 It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened,
who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 who
have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, 6
if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they
are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public
disgrace.
