Being Successful Where Do We Start

Being Successful
Where Do We Start

Which foot do you start with?

Most of us never think about the first step

Just as we don’t think about whether the right
or left foot will go first…

We don’t think from the beginning

Geneses 1&2 is the beginning and the first step

Is believing that in the beginning God is the Creator

Where Do We Start

Which foot do you start with?

Most of us never think about the first step.

Just as we don’t think about whether the right or left
foot will go first, we don’t think from the beginning.

When it comes to success, we generally
think about it from where we are.

Where we are has to do with our personal belief system.

The shape of our Personal Belief System,
the way we think, effects our destiny.

I am amazed at the different ways we
think and how often we don’t think.

Success in its basic definition is the
accomplishment of an aim or purpose.

We need to know what we are aiming for.

What is the ultimate purpose?

The ultimate purpose is “LIFE”.

If you are reading this, you have started life’s journey.

This can be one of our biggest problems in being successful at life.

I have a friend who wanted to go to New York from Toledo.

He got on the fastest route, the Turnpike, after driving all night
long he saw a sign and realized he was going the wrong direction.

That is like many of us, we can’t aim at the
target because we can’t see it from where we are.

We rely on our Personal Belief System (PBS)
like it is a GPS, but often we find the information
put into our PBS has taken us the wrong way.

So how do we get on track?

Despite popular belief we don’t start from where we are.

We start from the beginning.

The beginning is the first two chapters of Genesis.

In these two chapters, God gives us everything
we need to be successful in life.

From Genesis 3 through Revelation 22, God is
dealing with the unsuccessfulness of people.

So if we want to be successful, at and in, life,
the best place to start is the first 2 chapters in Genesis.

The first principle of success is…

“In the beginning God” Genesis 1:1

Our belief system must have a proper recognition of God.

“Without faith it is impossible to please God, because
anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists
and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
Hebrews 11:6 NIV

If God created us, than it only makes sense
that our PBS must have faith in God.

The two basic elements of that faith is…

 1. God exist

2. He rewards those who seek Him

God breathed life into man in the beginning
and even though man has failed at being
successful at life, God has not given up…

Sending His Son who made the claim…

“I have come that you might have life
and have it in abundance.”

Life is the goal of success, to have it to the
fullest measure and to have it for all eternity.

It is important to see God created man
and woman in the image of Himself.

God made us above all other life forms.

God also gave us responsibility of everything He created.

We were made to care for creation and rule over creation.

Everything God created needs care
and everything needs order.

God spent time in the cool of the day with Adam and Eve.

I believe this was the time God talked to them
about their day’s accomplishments and shared
with them the plans for the next day.

The responsibility God has given us
takes continual fellowship with Him.

God does not expect us to know
how to manage everything in life.

But He does expect us to seek
Him to find the answers to life.

Scripture Reading

Genesis 1:1-31

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
…….
26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

27 So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.

28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."
29 Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground — everything that has the breath of life in it — I give every green plant for food." And it was so.
31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning — the sixth day.
