Being Successful
Warnings to the Sluggard Part II

It is true if you snooze you lose

Sluggards love to sleep

They do not realize the value of today so it cost them tomorrow

Bible cure for the slugger

Warnings to the Sluggard Part II

Sluggards love to sleep

As a door turns on its hinges, so a sluggard turns on his bed.

How long will you lie there, you sluggard?
When will you get up from your sleep?

Sleep is a vital part of life.

Sleep should revive you, but when we
get too much sleep, we feel sluggish.

Beware of things that make you want to stay in bed,
depression and fear, get up and face them.

When you start to wake say this is the day the
Lord has made I will be glad and rejoice in it.

Tell yourself God has something
special in mind for you TODAY!!!

Sluggards are so lazy they need others to feed them

A sluggard buries his hand in the dish;
he is too lazy to bring it back to his mouth.

Sluggards have all the answers and talk out of turn

A sluggard is wiser in his own eyes
than seven people who answer discreetly.

Sluggards are proud and defensive.

They also are quick to criticize others and become gossipers.

After all, when you have nothing to do,
your mind goes places it should not go.

You cannot trust a sluggard to do anything for you

As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes,
so are sluggards to those who send them.
Proverbs 10:26

I have tried to help lazy people by giving them a job and every
time they cost me and in some cases almost lost my business.

As a pastor, I worked as a counselor and love
to help people but as a business man I have to
be very careful of trying to help lazy people.

Sluggards are always complaining about what they do not have

A sluggard’s appetite is never filled,
but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.

Dreaming is a very important part of life
and the difference between empty
and fulfilled dreams is “Diligence”.

Diligence –
the effort to do one's part,
while keeping faith and reliance in God

God does not forget your work and labor of love.

“We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what
you hope for may be fully realized. We do not want you to become lazy, but to
imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.
Hebrews 6:11-12

A sluggard’s life is plagued with problems that
the righteous don’t have to deal with

The way of the sluggard is blocked with thorns,
but the path of the upright is a highway.

Problems are a way of life.

Jesus said… “in this world you will have trouble.”
“The rain falls on the just and the unjust”

The upright deal with life’s trouble on a daily
bases, they don’t put it off till tomorrow.

There is enough trouble in one day so
don’t let the days of trouble accumulate.

Like mowing the grass, keep up with it
and even the troubles will look good.

Poverty is the future of the sluggard
I am writing this while vacationing in the Florida Keys.

The lifestyle of laying in the sun and
enjoying the emerald sea is wonderful.

It is easy to see many have come here
to live a life of no work and all play;

But have found the cost of living here is
greater than most of the United States.

It is as they say, “a great place to visit
but I would not want to live here.”

Living the dream in the Keys will cost you everything
you have much quicker than the States to the north.

The point being lazy costs.

There should be a part of your life where you get refreshed…

But don’t forget it costs diligent work.

A little sleep, a little slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest—
and poverty will come on you like a thief
and scarcity like an armed man.
Proverbs 24:33,34

Scripture Reading

Proverbs 6:6-11

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.
How long will you lie there, you sluggard?
When will you get up from your sleep?
10 A little sleep, a little slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest—
11 and poverty will come on you like a thief
and scarcity like an armed man.
