Being
Successful
A loving doe, a graceful deer—
may her breasts satisfy you always,
may you ever be intoxicated with her love.
Why, my son, be intoxicated with another man’s
wife?
Why embrace the bosom of a wayward woman?
Proverbs 5:20
God uses Solomon to share with us the
intoxicating effects of a woman on a man
Proverbs 5 very loud and clear warns men
of the intoxication effects of women that
leads to the dangers of sexual immorality
But with equal voice encourages husbands
to be intoxicated with their wives
Intoxication
of Love
Wisdom and Insight are to help us.
There is an intoxication effect a woman has on a man.
Intoxication makes you do things you normally would
not do.
Intoxication affects your thinking.
Solomon searched for the meaning of life and
he shares his finding in the Book of Ecclesiastes.
One of the many things he
explored was
the pleasures of a man with a
woman.
He acquired “a harem as well—the delights of a man’s heart.”
1 Kings 11:3 tells us Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines.
They had the power to turn his heart away from the
Lord.
Solomon also gives us the Song of Solomon,
a descriptive
and intimate story of a man and a woman.
intoxicating effects of a woman on a man.
Proverbs 5 very loud and clear warns men
of the intoxication effects of women
that
lead to the dangers of sexual immorality.
But with equal voice encourages husbands
to be intoxicated with their wives.
The NIV uses the word “intoxication” to
describe the effects of a female on a male…
may her
breasts satisfy you always,
may you ever
be intoxicated with her love.
20 Why, my son,
be intoxicated with another man’s wife?
Why embrace
the bosom of a wayward woman?
This word intoxication is a very good word
to describe the effects of a woman on a man.
Women can make a man say things he would not
normally say and do things he would not normally do.
God made the woman like a strong drink.
God made the man with an addictive
desire for that strong drink.
God also set a safe environment for a man
to drink and encourages the man to get
drunk all in the context of marriage.
God intended the husband to enjoy his wife’s
breasts and every other part of her body.
This enjoyment is to bring out his sensitivity
to cause him to say and do loving things
that he might not normally say and do.
His thinking
becomes focused on
her enjoyment and pleasure in him.
1 Corinthians 7:3-5 tells us sexual relations
between a husband
and wife are more important than prayer and fasting…
“Do
not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time,
so that you may devote yourselves to prayer.
Then come together again
so
that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.”
Most men would say the most difficult
sin to resist is the sin of lust.
Those who
disagree would put lust of a woman
as one of the most difficult sins to resist.
It is this sin that has kept from, and
brought down, the success of men.
A spiritual wife will flirt with her husband and
fill his desire to drink of the intoxicating love.
She will see to it that her husband never
has a desire to find a drink in the streets.
The spiritual husband will realize his desire for
intoxication love starts with the understanding
that the drink he wants is in a sealed bottle and
his
tender affections for his wife is what opens the
bottle.
In the Book “The Act of Love” Tim LaHay says…
“A husband with a Cadillac in the garage will not
be tempted by the old Volkswagen on the street.”
If you are unmarried, Paul says you are
better off to remain unmarried like himself.
But if the desire for the drink of a women cannot be
controlled, “It
is better to marry than to burn”.
Scripture
Reading
Proverbs 5
My son, pay attention to my wisdom,
turn your ear to my words of insight,
2 that you may maintain discretion
and your lips may preserve knowledge.
3 For the lips of the adulterous woman drip honey,
and her speech is smoother than oil;
4 but in the end she is bitter as gall,
sharp as a double-edged sword.
5 Her feet go down to death;
her steps lead straight to the grave.
6 She gives no thought to the way of life;
her paths wander aimlessly, but she does
not know it.
7 Now then, my sons, listen to me;
do not turn aside from what I say.
8 Keep to a path far from her,
do not go near the door of her house,
9 lest you lose your honor to others
and your dignity to one who is cruel,
10 lest strangers feast on your wealth
and your toil enrich the house of
another.
11 At the end of your life you will groan,
when your flesh and body are spent.
12 You will say, “How I hated discipline!
How my heart spurned correction!
13 I would not obey my teachers
or turn my ear to my instructors.
14 And I was soon in serious trouble
in the assembly of God’s people.”
15 Drink water from your own cistern,
running water from your own well.
16 Should your springs overflow in the streets,
your streams of water in the public
squares?
17 Let them be yours alone,
never to be shared with strangers.
18 May your fountain be blessed,
and may you rejoice in the wife of your
youth.
may her breasts satisfy you always,
may you ever be intoxicated with her love.
20 Why, my son, be intoxicated with another man’s wife?
Why embrace the bosom of a wayward woman?
21 For your ways are in full view of the LORD,
and he examines all your paths.
22 The evil deeds of the wicked ensnare them;
the cords of their sins hold them fast.
23 For lack of discipline they will die,
led astray by their own great folly.
