Do Not Forget the Lord
Don’t Forget Where Wealth Comes From
Remember God gave you the ability
to gain wealth, so develop it.
The focus is not thanking God for wealth
but giving you the ability to gain it.
Enjoy the work of your hands.
The hands have the most bones 27 in each
hand out of the 206 in the whole body.
Look at your hand, it is amazing, the abilities
because of these 27 bones God gave you.
So what will you accomplish with those bones today
and when evening comes what will you and God
talk about as you lift up those hands to Him in praise?
But remember the Lord your God,
for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth.
Wealth, we all want it but we don’t always know how to get
it.
I think is it interesting that the covenant God
made to the children of Israel focused on wealth.
A promise land full of everything they
needed to become a rich and powerful nation.
Three powerful truths about “Wealth”…
·
Wealth is all around you
When God made the heavens and the earth
He filled them with seemingly unending resources.
Think of the sun, it has been burning for 6000 years
and we can’t predict a time when it will burn out.
We have been mining gold, silver, copper, oil, etc.
and with new technology we keep finding more.
Note… In 2015, the US consumed about 384.74 million gallons
of
gas a day and we will have no problem getting your cars
filled up today.
7.4 billion people on the earth today are here
because of God’s provision 6000 years ago.
Our lack is not because there is a lack of resources.
·
Wealth takes ability
It is God who gives you the ability to gain wealth.
Ability must be developed and so does the
natural resources in order to produce wealth.
Our abilities are God given so it only makes sense
to seek God for the development of our abilities.
God has designed us to work together so your
full potential cannot be reached without others.
Life is not about getting rich, it is about using
your abilities to help and serve others.
One of the business principles I have taught my son
is don’t focus on the money, focus on providing a
service people want and need and the money will
come with appreciation and you will get their love, too.
Too many of us are praying for money as
if God is a sugar
daddy when we should be
praying God show me how to meet this need.
·
Wealth is something you have to go after.
The children of Israel were given the promise
land but they did have to fight battles to get it.
They did have to work the land.
God established “work” in the very beginning…
Man was to care for the garden of Eden
and Woman was to be his help mate.
It was only after the curse that work
came with sweat and suffering.
Work has always been a good thing.
Man is to enjoy the work of his
hands according to Solomon.
“A little sleep, a
little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest —
and poverty will come
on you like a bandit
and scarcity like an
armed man.” Proverbs 6:10-11

Scripture Reading
Deuteronomy 8:10-20 NIV
10 When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord
your God for the good land he has given you. 11 Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God, failing to
observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day.
12 Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and
settle down, 13 and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and
gold increase and all you have is multiplied, 14 then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God, who
brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. 15 He led you through the
vast and dreadful desert, that thirsty and waterless land, with its venomous
snakes and scorpions. He brought you water out of hard rock. 16 He gave you
manna to eat in the desert, something your fathers had never known, to humble
and to test you so that in the end it might go well with you. 17 You may say to
yourself, "My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth
for me." 18 But remember the Lord
your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so
confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it is today.
19 If you ever forget
the Lord your God and follow other gods and worship and bow down to them, I
testify against you today that you will surely be destroyed. 20 Like the
nations the Lord destroyed before you, so you will be destroyed for not obeying
the Lord your God.
