Battle or Work
Remember…
Our “battle” is
against spiritual darkness (the devil)
And…
Our “work” is to
see those (people) in darkness come to the light
One of my children was accused of a terrible thing.
The whole family was grieved and I knew these types
of accusations, even when false, seem to never go away.
In my mind I went through all the scenarios.
I thought of “just show love and it will all go away”.
I thought of how much money it would
take to sue the person to clear my child’s name.
In all this agony I kept my control and peace.
Realizing no action should be taken until I heard from God…
I determined not to act on any thoughts until
I had the peace of Christ ruling in my heart.
I felt like I was in a war, and in that war, I
came to understand a powerful principle.
The Bible says we
wrestle and struggle not
against flesh and
blood but against spiritual powers.
The dark side of life
was opened to me, I could see the
darkness of sin and the pain so many people live in every
day.
I realized my life in Christ has caused me to “live
on the other side of the track” as the saying goes.
My family and I were now taken
into a world of lies and hate.
Like Christ, we did not deserve
it, yet it was happening to us.
In my prayers, God caused me to see
clearly how to handle this matter.
I was in a war but not with the lying accuser.
I was at war with spiritual forces of darkness.
And I was at work to redeem as
many who were involved as possible.
Even the person who brought these
lying accusations, I was to work for
their salvation, not to battle with them.
In my heart, I wanted to go to that person and say…
“Do you really want to go this way because if you
do, it will bring harm to you and destroy your life.”
I do believe there are laws to protect the
innocent and the rod of the law and God is
to bring people influenced by evil to repent.
It is not God’s will that any should
perish, so God always holds out the
light for people to run to and repent.
So I realized I needed to see destroying
the works of the Devil was the battle and
bring people to repentance was the work.
After World War II and Pearl Harbor
many Americans hated Japanese people.
For many Americans, it was not a war on principles
but against people, many of those people were
hated only because they were born Japanese.
The war stopped the evil, but it was the work with
the Japanese that has made the world a better place.
We all need to realize where our
battle is and where our work is.
Our battle is with the Forces of Darkness, the Devil.
We are not in battle with people, but at
work to help them get free from the lies and
deception the enemy puts in their minds.
Scripture
Reading
Ephesians 6:10-18 NIV
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the
devil's schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but
against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark
world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you
may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the
breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the
readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take
up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of
the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit,
which is the word of God. 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all
kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on
praying for all the saints.
