Being a Peacemakers

Being a Peacemakers

Do you know the recipe for making peace?

How is your recipe working for you?

Do you have peace?

Peace everybody wants it
yet many of us don’t have it.

It would seems crazy for anyone to want disagreement,
hate, unrest, discord, difficulty, disharmony, distress,
fighting, frustration, be upset, worry, uproar and war.

Life is like a thermometer, the mercury is the level of stress,
as things heat up stress fills the thermometer of life.

Some of us live with a very high
temperature of unrest and stress.

Jesus in His great Sermon on the Mount said peace is made…

“Blessed are the peacemakers”

Learning to be a peacemaker takes skill,
a skill and a great deal of knowledge.

It is also interesting Jesus combines
the word “blessed” with peacemakers.

Yes, peacemakers are blessed but may be by understanding blessing
we can get a better understanding of the recipe for peace making.

Aaron and the priest were to bless God’s
People, let’s look at this blessing.

The Lord said to Moses, "Tell Aaron and his sons,
'This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them:
"'"The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace." '
"So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them."
Numbers 6:22-27

The blessing of the Lord comes when the Lord’s
face is turned toward us “the Lord turn his face
toward you and give you peace."

There are times when we just want the
Lord to turn His eyes away from us…

Just for a moment so we can vent or do
something He would not approve of.

It is in those times our actions also turn away our peace.

If we lie, cheat, don’t speak the truth in love
God turns His face and there goes our peace.

My granddaughter over heard someone say that
one of the presidential candidates lied all the time.

My granddaughter said, “she must
have a lot of stomach aches.”

Yes, even children know when we are not
making peace we have stomach aches.

When we do the things we don’t want
God to see we get stomach aches.

If we are to be peacemakers we will
have to have the blessing of God.

And when we have the blessing we have peace.

Our peace is directly tied to our being a peacemaker.

The word blessing means to “speak well
of” when we speak well of others.

When we speak well to others…

When our actions and words are
focused at living at peace with others…

God’s face is shining on us and we have peace.

We may hate and condemn the actions of others.

Those actions reveal who they are.
We should be like Jesus who said…

“I came not in to the world to
condemn the world but to save it.”

Peacemakers know how to use positive
reinforcement in order to save people.

When your peace is being robbed
how skilled are you at making peace?
