Passion
That Attracts the Heart
Passion is contagious.
It starts with a flame in one heart
and spreads to another.
Sandy and I went to a fund raiser for Vision
Ministries.
Vision Ministries is a church in the south end of
Toledo.
Pastors Josh and Joy Hester grew up
in the urban city and lead the church.
Joy’s passion
flowed from her
as she shared her heart.
From her heart, she spoke of the Samaritans
being like the urban city neighborhoods and people.
Samaritans were not well looked upon,
travelers went out of their way
in order to avoid their neighborhoods.
But Jesus points out that it was a Samaritan
that helped the beaten man on the side of
the road when all others walked by.
It was also a Samaritan woman Jesus asked for a
drink.
This woman’s life was messed up.
She had five husbands and the man
she was living with was not her husband.
When Jesus spoke to her, her life was touched and
she went back to her people to tell them about Jesus.
Joy pointed out that there are good people
like the Good Samaritan living in
neighborhoods that many would avoid.
She also testified to the many lives that were messed
up,
like the woman at the well, whose lives were changed
and are now helping others though the ministry of
the church.
Joy shared her “Passion”
for the urban intercity people.
As many churches, move out of these areas
they (Vision
Ministries) feels compelled to stay.
In fact, they have vision to start
more churches in these areas.
Joy’s passion
for the people of the inter city
touched my heart and the hearts of everyone there;
passion
that touches the heart.
As she poured out her heart,
tears came to my eyes.
Passion
has identified the “Where” for Pastors Josh and Joy.
Passion
has given them unbelievable energy to do great things.
Their passion
has motivated others,
like Sandy and I to help.
So never be lacking in passion.
Take a minute and look at their web site
and ask God if there isn’t something
He might have you to do.
If you are lacking passion or zeal,
the best way to get it,
is get around those who have it.
