Teach
Us to Number Our Days
My
Life Verse
What is the most important
thing in your life?
As a child, God was a very key part of my life.
I was born when my dad was in seminary.
As a baby,
I did my part to help my dad and mom
start a church in east Toledo.
I was the youngest greeter;
I gave the people who came to church the quiet baby
smile.
I remember when I was about 6 years old, living on
Winston Blvd.,
it was a
ranch home with a business where my dad sold
monuments for National Memorial Stone Company.
I remember in the kitchen a space
like a place between the stove and wall
where you would put a wastebasket.
I also remember my bedroom;
the window was very high probably
because it was on the end of the house
where the monuments
were
and the traffic from Winston Blvd. in our front yard
and Glanzman Rd from our back yard meets Byrne Rd.
In that bedroom, I slept with my Bible
(that I could not yet read) every night.
Those memories of my times with God
were a strong influence in my life.
I felt as if I were the most important person to God.
I felt so close to Him
that I struggled relating to the world around me.
God became the most valuable thing in my life.
I realized that at that young age
I could not live
without His presences in my life.
was in the Bible at the time,
but I can see now why this verse
became so valuable to me.
This week I look to explore this verse
and the personal implications of it to my life.
Because this verse is a promise to all of us,
I am sure you will also find value.
I hope you share with me
the most important thing in life,
God’s presences and help in our lives.
His name is Immanuel,
“God
with us.”
Scripture
Reading
because God has said,
"Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you."
6 So we say with confidence,
"The Lord is my helper;
I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?"
Hebrews 13:5-6 The Message
Since God
assured us,
"I'll never let you down,
never walk off and leave you,"
6 we can boldly quote,
God is there, ready to help;
I'm fearless no matter what.
Who or what can get to me?
Isaiah 7:13-15 NIV
13 Then Isaiah said,
"Hear now, you house of David!
Is it not enough to try the patience of men?
Will you try the patience of my God also?
14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign:
The virgin will be with child
and will give birth to a son,
and will call him Immanuel .
Matthew 1:22-23 NIV
22 All this took place to fulfill
what the Lord had said through the prophet:
23 "The virgin will be with child
and will give birth to a son,
and they will call him Immanuel "
-which means, "God with us."
