Teach
Us to Number Our Days
Encourage
Daily
You have
the power to motivate people.
You can
help them accomplish great things.
And you
can get them there with one word…
Encouragement
We have been looking at
what God has given us for each day
and what He requires of us each day.
This inventory will help us
make the most of each day.
Hebrews 3:13 tells us to
“Encourage each other daily”
The word encourage
from the Greek
gives the idea of
calling
something to be,
to
call forth.
God told Moses to strengthen and encourage
Joshua to lead God’s people.
God showed Moses Joshua’s potential
and made it Moses’ responsibility
to encourage
him toward that end.
Everyone of us faces the monster of insecurity.
Some of us hide it better than others,
but that monster is trying to keep us
from our full potential and joy.
God has
designed us for relationships,
therefore our confidence comes
from the encouragement
of others.
At church, I
noticed a lady at the Welcome Center;
her smile was bigger than life
and you could see the people stopping at the table
could feel the warmth of a good welcome.
I said to her,
“You
are the perfect person for this position.”
Not a big statement,
but I could see that encouragement
filled her tank
to keep up the excellent work.
When you acknowledge
someone’s ability to do good,
you empower them to do it.
You call them
forth!
You and I have the power to move people
forward in their full potential
with just a word of encouragement.
We should every day look for ways to do this.
It doesn’t need to be hard.
Maybe a good place to start is
let the next person you see with a smile
know their smile is changing
the world in a positive way.
Scripture
Reading
Hebrews 3:12-14 NIV
13 But
encourage one another daily,
as long as it is called Today,
so that none of you may be hardened
by sin's deceitfulness.
Deuteronomy 3:27-29 NIV
28 But
commission Joshua,
and encourage and strengthen him,
for he will lead this people across
and will cause them to inherit the land
that you will see."
