Teach
Us to Number Our Days
Renovation
of the Mind
Are you ready to make some mind changes
to have your life transformed?
The NIV says, “be transformed
by
the renewing of our minds.”
After this process,
we will be able to test
and approve what God’s will is.
The word renewing
in the Greek
also means renovating.
I have gained so much
from the Monarch Butterfly
concerning transformation.
The word renovation
seems
to better describe the change
in the Monarch
and the mind of the believer.
It is more than a new coat of paint.
Last night as I was listening to Joel Osteen,
I was reminded of how big a job
this renovation
process is.
Joel gave several examples of people
whose minds were on their problems
rather than God’s ability.
Naturally speaking,
from the world’s view point,
we can find overwhelming evidence
why we should not be healed;
why we should face financial ruin;
why things should not get better.
Sometime sit back and listen
to the conversations we have.
We sit around like the scene in Jaws
where the sheriff, biologist and shark hunter
compare their stories by
showing each other their battle scars.
For every reason we highlight as
to why things shouldn’t get better;
we crawl closer to the earth.
I felt like I had more need of renovation
after hearing Joel last night.
Renovation
that will get me
to a place of seeing God’s ability.
A change that would take me off the ground
and put me in the air - like the butterfly.
I want to be transformed
and have a renovated
mind
to think and see as God thinks and sees!
Maybe this weekend we should take a trip
to the Butterfly
House
and take a good look at our need
to be
transformed by a renovated mind.
Scripture
Reading
Romans 12:1-2 NIV
12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers,
in view of God's mercy,
to offer your bodies as living sacrifices,
holy and pleasing to God
— this is your spiritual act of worship.
2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this
world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Then you will be able to test and approve what God's
will is
— his good, pleasing and perfect will.
