Teach Us to Number Our Days Discovering God’s Will

Teach Us to Number Our Days
Discovering God’s Will

We know how to test the human heart.
But do we know how to test the heart of God?
Do you know what His heart beats for?

What does the renewed or renovated mind look like?

The renewed mind becomes a testing ground.

It is a mind that thinks.

A mind that questions.

In 1972, the UNCF partnered with the Ad Council
to launch a public service advertising campaign
encouraging Americans to support the fund.

The campaign slogan,
has remained unchanged
for more than three decades;
and has become part
of the American vernacular.

We all should be concerned
about wasting our brain potential.

Education helps us to make right decisions.

Here in Romans 12,
we are challenged to renew our thinking.

Develop a mind that has the ability to
test and approve what God’s will is.

The first question we have to ask ourselves is….
 What is God’s will?

The will of God from the Greek definition is:
the choice; purpose; decree;
 inclination; desire; pleasure.

The renewed mind looks at
life testing, examining and proving.

The renewed mind is looking
to see if God is pleased.

Are the things in my life, or around me,
God’s desire?

There are some things in life
that very clearly reveal God’s “will” or not.

But much of life is testing…

 Is this God’s will?

Is this His desire?

Much of what we discover to be God’s will,
we can say is good - but not perfect.

Because God’s will and desire
is in process - it is not complete.

Those of us who have a renewed mind
will understand God’s will;
and help implement what is needed
to bring perfection of His will.

As we number our days,
what has God’s desire been for you?

How can you bring it to perfection?

Scripture Reading

Philippians 1:6 KJV
6 Being confident of this very thing,
that he which hath begun a good work in you
will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

Hebrews 13:21 KJV
21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will,
working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight,
through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Romans 12:1-2 NIV
12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers,
in view of God's mercy,
to offer your bodies as living sacrifices,
holy and pleasing to God
— this is your spiritual act of worship.
2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is
— his good, pleasing and perfect will.
