Teach Us to Number Our Days Transformation

Teach Us to Number Our Days
Transformation

Thank God we don’t need brain surgery
to have our minds renewed.

The second thing we find in Romans 12
to prepare us for Spiritual Gifts,
is transformation by the renewing of the mind.

I remember my mother buying
a pattern in order to make clothes.

The pattern was laid out on fabric and
straight pins were put through the pattern and
into the fabric to hold the two tightly together.

Then came the scissors to cut the fabric
to the same shape as the pattern.

The pattern of this world has been laid on you and I;
the pins have been put in and the cutting has shaped us.

This garment has clothed our minds;
effecting every area of our lives.

This garment seems very natural
and very comfortable.

You and I don’t even realize we are wearing it
until the Holy Spirit reveals a new pattern.

In Moses’ day, the people did not
 want to see the transformation,
so Moses had to cover his face.

Today the Holy Spirit is here to remove
the veil so that we might be transformed
with an ever increasing glory.

The pattern of the world is insufficient
to meet the needs all around us.

The best programs can’t seem to meet
the overwhelming human need.

We need a new pattern; a new garment.

Comic book writers have seen this for years
as they looked to solve the needs of humanity.

The Clark Kents put on a new garment
and they became super heroes.
When they put on that garment,
they thought differently.

As you and I put on Christ
and open our minds to the things of the Holy Spirit,
we begin to understand what the will of the Lord is.

This transformation and renewing of the mind
cause us to look to the Holy Spirit for the answer;
to the great needs on humanity.

The Spirit opens our minds,
to not only see the Lord’s will,
but the power the Holy Spirit
wants to put into our hands
to make a difference.

That power comes to us as the Holy Spirit
gives us Spiritual Gifts as He determines the need.

Let’s commit ourselves to the Holy Spirit;
that we might be totally transformed
by the renewing of our minds
for the rest of our days.

Scripture Reading

2 Corinthians 3:12-18 NIV
12 Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold.
13 We are not like Moses,
who would put a veil over his face to keep the Israelites
from gazing at it while the radiance was fading away.
14 But their minds were made dull,
for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read.
It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away.
15 Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts.
16 But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.
17 Now the Lord is the Spirit,
and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
18 And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory,
are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory,
which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

Titus 3:3-6 NIV
 4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared,
5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.
He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
