Where My Name is Honored I Will Bless You

The Blessing

By William M. Self, Sr.

Exodus 20:24 NCV

Worship me in every place that I choose,

and I will come and bless you.

Where My Name is Honored I Will Bless You

The Lord told the children of Israel, wherever
they honored Him, He would bless them.

The places of honor were marked
out with altars and a sacrifice.

The altar were not mass produced.

Natural stones were to be used.

The second requirement was not to
go up on the altar by way of steps.

When I was in Indonesia, Muslims would play
on loud speakers early in the morning prayers.

It seemed strange that they would believe
God would be satisfied with a recording.

We play worship songs in our car, home, and work.

We have plaques and bumper stickers.

All these things that are mass produced are good,
but they do not bring the blessing of God.

If we want the blessing of the Lord in our home,
car and at work, we need to offer a natural sacrifice.

Make an altar that is fresh and new.

A sacrifice that comes from the heart,
 not the Christian book store.

We also need to be careful we do not
expose ourselves as we make this altar.

It is not a matter of how talented we are.

If we make our offerings to God, in a way people
see our underwear, it will distract from His honor.

So be humble, live low, so God can be exalted.

The Lord said He will bless the place
where His name is honored.

As you and I present ourselves as a sacrifice,
a living sacrifice holy and acceptable to God…

The place we are at, the situation we are in, will be blessed.

Because our minds are being renewed through this process.

The process of this altar causes us
to think about everything we do.

The result is… We discover the good,
acceptable and perfect will of God.

This altar becomes a model to all others because they see the blessing
of God on you which is far greater than some recording or plaque.

Cut stones and prerecorded things may look perfect…

But God still loves the natural you more…

Even with our rough edges.

Scripture Reading

Exodus 20:24-26 NIV
24 "'Make an altar of earth for me and sacrifice on
it your burnt offerings and fellowship offerings,
your sheep and goats and your cattle.
Wherever I cause my name to be honored,
I will come to you and bless you.
25 If you make an altar of stones for me,
do not build it with dressed stones,
for you will defile it if you use a tool on it.
26 And do not go up to my altar on steps,
lest your nakedness be exposed on it.'

Romans 12:1-2 NKJV
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God,
that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy,
acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And do not be conformed to this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that you may prove what is that good
and acceptable and perfect will of God.
