Put Your Name on It

The Blessing

By William M. Self, Sr.

When the Lord puts His name on you

It comes with a blessing

“put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them."

Numbers 9:27

As little children, we put our name on things.

Maybe on the tag of our clothes so they
wouldn’t get confused with our siblings.

The papers we wrote in school.

The toys we got for Christmas.

The tools of our trade get marked with our name.

As we get older our car, motorcycle,
boat, house all have our name on the title.

Whether you inspect it, approve it, or witness
it, you probably put your name on it.

Thousands and thousands of times you and I have
claimed ownership by putting our name on something.

Then there are the things we endorse, giving public
approval or support to someone or something.

 The opposite is also true.

There are a lot of things we would not want our name on.

We don’t want to be associated
with some things and some people.

Now think about God’s name.

God wants to put His name on you.

He wants to put His name on you
 so He can claim ownership.

He wants to put His name on
you to endorse or sponsor you.

What God puts His name on, He blesses…

"So they will put my name on the
Israelites, and I will bless them."

God does not want a small
inconspicuous place to put His name.

He does not want to be another name among
the list of sponsors and endorsers in your life.

God is looking for His name to be out front…

Standing alone!

Obvious to everyone!

If our life is a wreck, God is willing to put
His name on us and make the wreck a blessing.

So are you, like the new electronic
billboards, who change on Monday?

Or, is God’s name boldly standing out
on your life everyday of the week…

“put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them."

Scripture Reading

Numbers 6:22-27 NIV

22 The Lord said to Moses, 23 "Tell Aaron and his sons,
'This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them:

24 "'"The Lord bless you
and keep you;
25 the Lord make his face shine upon you
and be gracious to you;
26 the Lord turn his face toward you
and give you peace." '

27 "So they will put my name on the Israelites,
and I will bless them."
