The Blessing
By William M. Self, Sr.
Christ the Prince of Peace becomes superior
To our thoughts and emotions
This only happens by prayer and thanks giving
Philippians 4:6-7
Peace
The Hebrew word is “Shalom”.
It means completeness, soundness, welfare, peace.
Think about it, we are at peace when everything is together…
When things are complete.
The littlest thing taken or missing in
our lives can rob us of our peace.
It is hard to rest until we get the last answer.
Like balancing the check book with an amount unaccounted for.
I am not sure there is a greater blessing than being at
peace.
Yet, some of us willingly give it up without a thought.
Like when an inappropriate word is spoken
or a vending machine malfunctions.
Life is short and giving 10 minutes or
even 10 seconds losing peace is insane.
Yet, it is so natural to lose it.
If peace is part of the blessing than
losing our peace is losing the blessing.
Some of us when we lose our peace become very dramatic.
While others hold the
anxiety inside.
The Bible says…
“Blessed are the peacemakers”
Matthew 5:9
They are the ones who
“will
receive a harvest of righteousness”
James 3:18
But we all need help keeping peace and making it.
We need Jesus Christ the Prince of Peace.
We need his “government
of Peace” ruling in us.
The fact is peace is to rule and give direction for your
life.
“Let the peace of
Christ rule in your heart”
Colossians
3:15
The word “rule”
means to play the umpire.
Philippians 4 instructs us to do two things
in everything to find the blessing of peace…
Pray, make supplication or petition, and
request and the second thing is thanksgiving…
Prayer and thanks giving to God.
When we do this, there is a peace
of God that comes over us.
This peace is superior to the negative thoughts
of the mind and the emotions of the heart.
Through prayer and thanks giving peace is kept.
Because He is able to do above and beyond
ALL we could ever
ask or image.
Let Christ rule the blessing of peace.
Let Him become superior to the drama of your mind and heart.
Scripture Reading
Numbers
6:22-27 NIV
22 The Lord
said to Moses, 23 "Tell Aaron and his sons,
'This is how
you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them:
24
"'"The Lord bless you
and keep
you;
25 the Lord
make his face shine upon you
and be
gracious to you;
26 the Lord
turn his face toward you
and give you
peace." '
27 "So
they will put my name on the Israelites,
and I will bless them."
Philippians
4:6-7 KJV
6 Be careful
for nothing; but in everything by prayer
and supplication with thanksgiving let your
requests
be made
known unto God.
7 And the
peace of God, which passeth all understanding,
shall keep
your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
