Insecurity
What to do With Confidence
If you and I only had Hebrews 10:19-25 we would have enough to do
Make sure you rest in the confidence of these verses
Don’t allow your insecurities to get in the way of Jesus’ provision for you
To enter into the private place of the Holy of Holies
Don’t worry about getting into this place by the popularity of others
This place is personal
You have a standing invitation to enter with Jesus 24-7
When in the place of insecurity
Take Jesus’ hand and walk through the torn veil
Fully embrace the confidence you have through the blood of Jesus
Don’t dwell in the land of insecurity
But in the private place of confidence to enter into the Holy of Holies
What to do With Confidence
Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence
to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus
Hebrews 10:19
Don’t pass over this verse too quickly.
What gives you confidence
to enter the Most Holy Place?
The Most Holy Place is
the place of God’s throne.
The picture is Moses’ Tabernacle with three courts.
The outer court was entered through the gate…
Where the Altar of Sacrifice
And the Laver of washing was.
The inter court was a covered tent.
And you entered through a door…
There you find the Golden Candle Stick
Table of howbread
And the Golden Altar of Incense.
The Holies of Holies was entered through a veil.
In this place only the High Priest
could enter and only once a year.
In the Holy of Holies
was the Ark of the Covenant.
Jesus is the Gate.
He is the Door
And through His death…
He tore the veil into the Holy of Holies.
The Holy of Holies is
a private place with God.
Our confidence to enter into this private place,
the Most Holy Place is opened to us
through the blood of Jesus Christ…
His sacrifice, His provision.
Our confidence is not in our
name, status, good works.
To enter into the Holy of Holies,
you enter with Jesus.
You enter by His blood
and through His name
with His invitation.
Jesus is The High Priest who took all
our needs and requests…
But He takes us into the
very presence of God…
That private personal place.
So how do we walk in that confidence?
Let us draw near to God with
a sincere heart in full assurance of faith.
How would you define a sincere
heart in full assurance of faith?
Look at this description in verse 22…
Having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us
from a guilty conscience and
having our bodies washed with pure water.
Water baptism may not sound like much,
but look at what 1 Peter 3:21 says…
This water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also
— not the removal of dirt from the body
but the pledge of a good conscience toward God.
Confidence comes from a good conscience
which is a part of water baptism.
How do we walk in Confidence?...
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess,
for he who promised is faithful.
Verse 23
Hope…
Hang on to it and profess it
and let Jesus do the rest.
And let us consider how we may spur one
another on toward love and good deeds.
Verse 24
Professing your hope is encouraging
others to love and do good deeds.
Let us not give up meeting together,
as some are in the habit of doing,
but let us encourage one another —
and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Verse 25
Make it your habit to meet together
regularly with other believers.
Encourage one another.
If you see the signs of the
coming of the Lord…
Do all the above with greater fervency.
If you and I only had Hebrews 10:19-25,
we would have enough to do.
Make sure you rest in the
confidence of these verses.
Don’t allow your insecurities to get in the way
of Jesus’ provision for you to enter
into the private place of the Holy of Holies.
Don’t worry about getting into this
place by the popularity of others.
This place is personal.
You have a standing invitation
to enter with Jesus 24-7.
When in the place of insecurity…
Take Jesus’ hand and walk
through the torn veil.
Fully embrace the confidence you
have through the blood of Jesus.
Don’t dwell in the land of insecurity
but in the private place of confidence
to enter into the Holy of Holies.
Scripture Reading
Hebrews 10:19-25 NIV
19 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. 25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another — and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
